Iax was rather surprised to encounter Imperial Ships here, in a region almost beyond Imperial territory.
But he soon calculated the likely reason.
These Imperial forces had most likely been drawn here by the earlier incident caused by the Sword of the Void.
Once communications were established, Iax learned the current objective of these Imperial Ships and the Ark Mechanicus.
They intended to board and explore the Space Hulk designated 00-GZ-Ω7, and were seeking help because they lacked sufficient forces.
After all, this was the Imperial frontier. Normally, they would have requested reinforcements from the Astartes for something like this.
But there were clearly no Chapters available here...
