This gigantic city had been a special experiment before the Federation dissolved.

Metals infused with Warp energy developed strange fusion properties, while in Realspace, their energy dissipated until they eventually decomposed and reverted to their original state.

The Federation had therefore sent vast quantities of materials directly into the Warp to infuse them.

It had then used these materials, fused by Warp energy, to construct this enormous city.

To anchor its coordinates in the Warp and prevent the enormous city from being swept away and lost in its tides, the Federation had even thrown an entire Neutron Star into the Warp.

A megastructure pierced the planetary axis of this specially modified Neutron Star, leaving it hanging beneath the city like a keychain. The gigantic, manually controlled structure periodically set the star spinning at high speed.

The Neutron Star's rapid rotation produced astonishing amounts of energy, releasing powerful pulse signals.

In Realspace, natural celestial bodies like these were pulsars that emitted immense amounts of radiation.

Only materials whose physical properties had been contaminated and warped by the power of the Warp could have allowed the Federation to accomplish such an unimaginable feat.

Because the Neutron Star was artificially driven, its pulse signals followed specific patterns and characteristics. The star could maintain a designated speed and continuously emit extraordinarily powerful, regularly fluctuating pulses, allowing the Federation's specially designed observation equipment to pinpoint its location at any time.

Aboard the Heart of the Forge, Iax's consciousness-copy construct easily guessed what had become of this facility.

As the Federation dissolved in civil war, the relevant records had either been looted or destroyed. No one had cared that a secret research institution hidden in the Warp had gone missing.

Iax attempted to access the city's main systems directly through a data connection, but its central
