"Zzzap!"
A dark beam swept past Victor and Lucas, barely missing them. The daemons caught within it immediately dissolved into smoke and dust amid anguished howls.
Overhead, a vast formation of strange silver fighters was diving toward the ground.
Victor had never seen these fighters before, but their distinctive design revealed their identity.
Their gleaming exteriors, streamlined frames, and weapons he had never seen before.
"Captain Victor, I've never seen fighters like these. Are they some new xenos?"
Hearing Lucas's question, Victor shook his head.
"They should be the Men of Iron. Those strange Iron Clanks are probably the only ones in the Imperium with designs like these."
"But these fighters look a little different from the information the Chapter sent us earlier."
Victor shrugged.
That was true. The information showed the Men of Iron's drone fighters as flying discs armed with plasma weapons. Yet the fighters overhead looked like intricately crafted, flat triangular blocks, and their weapons differed from the records as well.
Even though the weapon's beam had only grazed past him, Victor had still sensed something strange emanating from it.
It was a sense of pure annihilation that chilled him to the core.
"I don't think we're wrong. If they were xenos, they wouldn't have avoided us when they attacked."
Watching the Slaaneshi daemons around them dissolve beneath the dark beams, Victor relaxed a little. What appeared next put them completely at ease.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
