Background / History
Visit to the Earth Dragon Sect
Du Busi held authority comparable to Heaven Dou’s imperial family, allowing him to enter other sects and even the Marshal’s Residence without ordinary formalities. After his disciple Long Aotian lost an inexplicable friendly match to Luo Feng, he visited the Earth Dragon Sect to assess the victor personally 3 4.
He released his pressure to test Luo Feng, then praised the nineteen-year-old Soul Ancestor upon seeing his four black Soul Rings. Du Busi concluded that Long Aotian’s defeat was no disgrace. Although he questioned the rings’ dragon-beast origins, he withdrew the question rather than intrude on what he believed were the Earth Dragon Sect’s core secrets 4.
Du Busi gave the sect chests of treasures and cultivation scrolls worth nearly five years of its income. He framed the gift as support for the empire’s younger generation and urged Nan Shuishui to nurture Luo Feng. He also considered taking Luo Feng as a disciple, but the youth’s dragon Martial Soul did not suit the Body Sect’s specialization 4.
Tournament Preparations
Distrusting the Sun Moon Empire, Du Busi arranged for Long Aotian and other elite disciples to compete under the cover of the Snow Demon Sect. He kept their departure discreet and helped organize the Heaven Dou sects into separate travel groups. An escape route was prepared, with its details disclosed only to the major sect leaders 8.
Duel over the Earth Dragon Sect’s Standing
At the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace, Du Busi challenged Luo Feng after hearing that he had mortally wounded the Holy Spirit Cult’s level-97 deputy leader, Feng Ling. The challenge also followed Nan Shuishui’s proposal that the Earth Dragon Sect become one of the empire’s Three Great Sects, which had angered the Body Sect 32.
Du Busi initially agreed to use only his Seventh Soul Skill, with defeat determined by falling down or leaving the arena. His first punch failed to damage Luo Feng’s dragon armor but sent him flying. Luo Feng then rewound events by five seconds and dodged the repeated attack, leaving Du Busi convinced that the youth had somehow anticipated his movements 32.
Concerned about losing face, Du Busi abandoned the restriction and unleashed his full strength. Luo Feng stopped time and kicked his enormous Martial Soul Avatar out of bounds without injuring him or Long Aotian. Du Busi could not remember the displacement, but correctly suspected that the Jade Dragon King’s command over time and space was involved 33.
Princess Vina subsequently recognized the Earth Dragon Sect as one of Heaven Dou’s Upper Three Sects. Du Busi accepted her intervention rather than prolong the dispute 34.
Wartime Cooperation
Du Busi recommended Luo Feng as the empire’s vanguard commander, offering Long Aotian and Body Sect elites as support. The arrangement also served his own sect’s interests: placing Luo Feng at the front would reduce Body Sect casualties and give Du Busi greater freedom to act. In return, he agreed to provide Body Sect resources for Luo Feng’s Dragon Gate 34.
When Luo Feng prepared an ambush against the Holy Spirit Cult, Du Busi joined the allied experts. His assigned role was to hold off Long Xiaoyao while the others attempted to gravely wound the cult’s leaders 36.
Final Battle and Death
After Luo Feng gravely wounded Zhongli Wu and negotiated the Holy Spirit Cult’s withdrawal, Du Busi blocked Long Xiaoyao’s departure. Calling him a traitor to Heaven Dou, he assembled several Super Douluos to surround and kill him. Luo Feng refused to participate and withdrew his companions, judging the coalition incapable of defeating a Limit Douluo 38 39.
Demon Fist Douluo and Black-Haired Douluo arrived with reinforcements, including Long Aotian and Vina. Long Xiaoyao’s level-99 Dark Holy Dragon form overwhelmed the coalition. Du Busi activated his Golden Awakening and led the Body Sect experts in a combined attack, but suffered deep wounds and a sharp collapse in his aura under Long Xiaoyao’s retaliation 39.
Du Busi ultimately detonated himself. Long Xiaoyao survived with injuries, while the explosion killed Long Aotian and Vina. Luo Feng later resurrected Vina, but could not restore Du Busi or Long Aotian because both had been reduced to ashes 40.
Appearance
- Build: Heavily muscled, with a green-toned body 3 4.
- Facial hair: A beard, visibly bristling with anger after his defeat by Luo Feng 34.
- Martial Soul Avatar: A giant exceeding twenty meters in height, capable of emitting dazzling golden light during Golden Awakening 33 39.
Personality
Du Busi could be warm, generous, and respectful of an ally’s boundaries. During his first visit to the Earth Dragon Sect, he greeted Luo Feng like a family elder, acknowledged his disciple’s fair defeat, and stopped questioning Luo Feng’s unusual Soul Rings once he recognized that the answers might involve sect secrets 3 4.
His political judgment was more calculating than his imposing appearance suggested. He promoted Luo Feng’s wartime appointment partly to shield the Body Sect from frontline losses, while still committing disciples and resources to the common defense 34.
Pride and personal hostility could override that pragmatism. He broke his own sparring restriction when Luo Feng threatened his reputation, then later rejected a negotiated withdrawal to pursue his grudge against Long Xiaoyao. His confidence in the allied coalition proved disastrously misplaced 33 38 39.
Abilities & Skills
Body Martial Soul and Golden Awakening
Du Busi possessed a Body Martial Soul that had undergone a second Golden Awakening, marking him as one of the Body Sect’s rare geniuses 32.
- His basic punches were described as more dangerous than other similarly ranked fighters’ Sixth or Eighth Soul Skills 32.
- During his final battle, he used Golden Awakening to lead the Body Sect experts in unleashing a massive spear of light 39.
- Despite his level-98 strength, he could not withstand Long Xiaoyao’s level-99 Limit Douluo power 39.
Seventh Soul Skill: Martial Soul Avatar
His Martial Soul Avatar enlarged both his body and its weight 32 33.
- The transformed body exceeded twenty meters and weighed more than ten elephants 33.
- Luo Feng could not drag him out of the arena directly, even while time was stopped 33.
- The transformation did not protect him from Luo Feng’s time reversal or Time Stop 32 33.
Soul Power Pressure
Du Busi could release an aura strong enough to strain Nan Shuishui’s breathing and force weaker Earth Dragon Sect disciples to manifest their Martial Souls and Soul Rings involuntarily 4.
- Used as a controlled test of Luo Feng’s hidden strength 4.
- Luo Feng remained comparatively comfortable under the pressure 4.
Self-Detonation
Du Busi’s final act was a self-detonation during the failed confrontation with Long Xiaoyao 40.
- Injured Long Xiaoyao but failed to kill him 40.
- Fatally caught Long Aotian and Princess Vina in its aftermath 40.
- Destroyed Du Busi’s remains, preventing Luo Feng’s resurrection technique from saving him 40.
