January, year 9995 of the Douluo Sea God Calendar. Transmigration diary, activated. I was Yu Tianjun.
My memories of my previous life had awakened, and the coordinates of my new life were confirmed. This was the Douluo World. I would awaken my martial soul in a year.
The good news: I was in Dragon City, and my dad was a Titled Douluo, the Heavenly Dragon Sect's master, and the man who called the shots in the city.
The bad news: in the original story, he died defending the city, the entire Heavenly Dragon Sect ascended to heaven, and only my big brother, Yu Tianlong, escaped.
The neighboring Earth Dragon Sect's master was called Nan Shuishui. In her youth, she had been Dragon City's greatest beauty. She was currently married with a daughter, Nan Qiuqiu.
Holy Chovy, if you're going to transmigrate me, at least do it properly!
Fine, you didn't send me to Jiang Renhuang's Nine Provinces Continent, but you actually sent me to the S2 version of the Douluo Continent? With the annihilation of my entire sect waiting in the future, no less!
Since I was here, I might as well settle in. Hopefully, next year's martial soul awakening wouldn't mutate into something bizarre.
The Heavenly Dragon Sect occupied a huge area, but its facilities were backward. We even had to burn coal for heating. One-star review.
If I got the chance, I would get some advanced soul tools from next door to improve our living conditions.
Day three. Drinking in Dragon City.
Senior Brother Xing Yan, the Heavenly Dragon Sect's second-greatest genius, dragged me out to share his grandfather's liquor. I suspected he wanted me as a human shield.
His martial soul was a Red Dragon, and his grandfather was our sect's grand elder, a peak Soul Douluo. I wondered whether he was the ancestor of Zhuo Shi, Shrek's Red Dragon Douluo ten thousand years later.
On the way back, we saw people begging in the snow. I gave them three large flatbreads and a dozen or so copper soul coins. Hopefully, they wouldn't get robbed. Dragon City's governance was truly abysmal.
Back home, Senior Brother bore his own troubles and got strung up and beaten by the grand elder.
Day four. Father taught me the Heavenly Dragon Sect's meditation method. I picked it up on the first try.
Day five. Practiced the Blue Lightning Ancestor's ancestral body-tempering method—running and medicinal baths.
Day six. Senior Brother Xing Yan brought out a little soul-tool cannon to show off, looking immensely pleased with himself.
I told the grand elder about it to help curb his impetuousness.
Month three. A funeral feast.
The Earth Dragon Sect master's husband suffered cultivation deviation during secluded cultivation. Senior Brother Xing Yan was the first to bring the news and offered to take me to the Earth Dragon Sect for the feast.
The moment he finished speaking, the grand elder appeared, lifted the human cub with one hand, and deepened their bond through friction between palm and backside.
The wind bit cold on the road. Senior Brother Xing Yan clutched his lump-covered head and said, "There's no shame in getting hit by a Soul Douluo," and, "Can something between a grandfather and grandson really be called a beating?" The freezing air brimmed with merriment.
Deeply moved, the grand elder hoisted Senior Brother up again. Dad and Second Uncle smiled with straight faces, Mother smiled discreetly, Big Brother Yu Tianlong smiled openly, and I laughed out loud. Everyone was very happy.
At the Earth Dragon Sect, a dignified, lovely young married woman with a full figure and fair skin came out. Sect Master Nan Shuishui had brought her daughter to welcome us.
Nothing made a woman prettier than mourning white. She reminded me of the actress who played Xiao Qiao in the old Three Kingdoms series. Sadly, that lady had passed away.
I had gone out for a stroll and encountered a Dayun truck. Even with all my strength, I couldn't beat it. It really hadn't been much of a lucky break.
At the feast, Big Brother, Senior Brother, and I sat at the children's table.
Because of the disparity in strength, the Earth Dragon Sect was rather like a subordinate sect of the Heavenly Dragon Sect. They never acknowledged that, but our relationship was excellent. Our two sects had been allies for a thousand years.
Besides the Heavenly Dragon Sect, Dragon City's lord, the city's nobles, and its small and medium-sized sects all attended. The city lord was said to be a high-ranking Soul Emperor, while the nobles varied in strength.
The small and medium-sized sects were generally polite when they saw us. In another timeline, some of these sects opened the gates and guided the Sun Moon Empire in when it attacked the city. I didn't know which ones.
Day six of paying respects. Evil Soul Masters came to the mourning hall to abduct a woman.
The Holy Spirit Cult's third elder, who had pursued Nan Shuishui in his younger years, sneaked into the Earth Dragon Sect, intending to carry the widow off from the mourning hall.
Dad noticed and struck in fury, forcefully suppressing his opponent. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon truly lived up to its reputation as a beast martial soul that grew stronger with every generation.
A second Evil Soul Master Titled Douluo appeared: the Holy Spirit Cult's fourth elder, the Netherworld Douluo. There was certainly loyalty among these disreputable drinking buddies.
The grand elder, Second Uncle, and Nan Shuishui joined the fight and drove the enemies back.
Second Uncle's martial soul was a dark-attribute Shadow Dragon, a mutated Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon.
Why did this martial soul mutate so easily?
Mother released her martial soul to protect us. Hers was a Dark Mastiff King, and she was a Seven-Ring Soul Sage. Very badass.
Afterward, to reassure her sect, Nan Shuishui announced that only a few petty thieves had attacked, and they had already been driven off or killed.
She looked haggard. This attack had put her under enormous pressure.
In the early hours that night, Grandfather arrived from his years-long seclusion in the mountains behind our sect. Aged and stooped, but heavy with murderous intent, he took up his post in the mourning hall.
According to Big Brother, Grandfather had already been a Super Douluo before handing the position of sect master to Father, but he apparently had an old injury.
January, year 9996 of the Douluo Sea God Calendar. Soul power: level 10.
I awakened my martial soul today. Innate full soul power—but why was this my martial soul?
I hadn't drunk any pesticide, (⊙o⊙)...
Ultimate Dark Qilin. No chance of competing to become the next sect master. Congratulations to Big Brother for winning without lifting a finger.
Everyone in the sect was stunned and disbelieving, then their faces turned deathly pale.
With the world's number-one academy leading the charge, dark Soul Masters without powerful backing in the Douluo Three Kingdoms rarely managed to mature. They were frequently hunted down, and most survivors joined the Holy Spirit Cult. Evil Soul Master organizations wouldn't let an Ultimate Dark Qilin slip away either.
Ultimate darkness was beyond the Heavenly Dragon Sect's ability to shelter. I had to choose between hiding for decades and joining Shrek.
I saw in myself the makings of a Holy Spirit Cult leader...
The sect convened its highest council and agreed that, unless necessary, I would avoid Star Dou from now on and hunt souls in the more secluded Death Canyon and Death Swamp.
The preliminary plan for my future was settled: lie low and develop for a few decades, watch the winds and clouds stir outside, and one day become a Titled Douluo, free to roam the continent as I pleased.
Setting out to hunt souls tomorrow.
October 12, year 9997 of the Douluo Calendar. Soul power: peak level 22.
I had just returned from soul hunting in Death Canyon when Shrek's Inspection Corps came to Dragon City.
His Excellency the Holy Spirit Cult's supreme elder arrived in person, sought out the master of the Azure Dragon Sect, a medium-sized local sect, and cried, "Hontō ni sumimasen!"
The Azure Dragon Sect master's son possessed the true dragon martial soul Azure Sky Dragon. He was Dragon City's greatest genius of this generation and a disciple of the Shrek Inner Court.
He had recently died gloriously in the campaign of "twelve prodigies against a hundred-thousand-year soul beast," without even a body left behind.
The Azure Dragon Sect master reeled at the terrible news and fell gravely ill.
Senior Brother Xing Yan whispered that the teacher leading them must have been a dead pig.
I thought the supreme elder might pull off a father-and-son double kill. I said I hoped the Azure Dragon Sect master could come to terms with it and not accompany his son on the road to the afterlife.
Big Brother strongly agreed. He said that if something happened to the Azure Dragon Sect master, they would struggle even to find someone to oversee the funeral.
We were overheard, and Dad grabbed us and thrashed us.
We went to the Azure Dragon Sect to offer condolences. Its master had aged ten years. My condolences.
Dragon City mobilized its entire network of connections to ascertain the twelve disciples' identities. Of the eight who died horribly, six came from major families or sects. All four survivors stayed at the academy after graduation.
Oh, crap. The supreme elder might have been playing dumb, deliberately eliminating the heirs of other powers in the Douluo Three Kingdoms.
The sect's meeting reached a conclusion: keep me under wraps for several decades.
We did not wish to go to Shrek, nor to Sun Moon. Could We perhaps visit the Body Sect for an educational exchange?

Practice with the modified Dragon Transformation succeeded. It drew out my qilin bloodline and transformed my right arm into a qilin's, greatly boosting my combat strength.
I could take Xing Yan with one hand and beat up Big Brother with both. In closed beta, I had risen to become the Heavenly Dragon Sect's top dog. Once the open beta succeeded, I would use Dragon City as my base, unite the northwestern sects into the Heaven-and-Earth Great Love Alliance, punch Shrek, kick the Body Sect, and stand at the summit of the Continent.
But the open beta would have to wait thirty years, o(╥﹏╥)o.
Cultivating ultimate darkness was too difficult. More contemplation needed.
Death Canyon's dark environment could increase my cultivation speed. Star Dou's Great Ferocious Land wasn't bad either. When could We get Di Tian to move out and give Us his spot?
We did not want to be a shut-in for decades. Maybe drinking pesticide would speed things up?
September 20, year 9999 of the Sea God Calendar. The experiment began.
The active ingredients in Pesticide were refined by darkness. My soul power bottleneck loosened, and the imperial countenance beamed with delight.
September 21, year 9999 of the Sea God Calendar. Keep refining!
Refine! Pesticide was exactly what I was refining! Half a bottle today!
The Qilin was sending me feelings of excitement, so...
King of Pesticide! The king cannot be stopped! Bring on the Pesticide!
My pesticide dosing was discovered. Second Uncle turned deathly pale, so frightened that he thought Great-Grandmother had come to take him away.
Forced to confess. The entire sect fell silent.
Seven days of examinations found nothing wrong. The diagnosis was that Ultimate Darkness was extraordinarily pure yet encompassed everything. It could filter out medicinal dregs and absorb beneficial substances with powerful medicinal effects.
Pesticide contained a great many nutrients. Ordinary people couldn't absorb them, but Ultimate Darkness could.
There was no sign of unstable soul power after absorption. The verdict: Pesticide rivaled the finest treasures of heaven and earth. Others couldn't absorb it because they weren't blessed enough to enjoy it.
Ultimate Darkness was fucking awesome! Some other day, I would invite Di Tian to knock back Pesticide together.
The sect added a Pesticide budget, with me in charge of negotiations. It was time to elbow the continent's unscrupulous Pesticide dealers.
I couldn't taste the difference when someone made good stuff, but I knew perfectly well who made bad stuff that harmed their customers.
"October 1, year 9999 of the Sea God Calendar. Soul power: level 34.
A second ultimate talent awakened: Myriad Forms.
Darkness embraced all things, and the Qilin accommodated the elements. My martial soul could breathe in and out every element between heaven and earth for combat, allowing darkness to evolve into more forms.
It erupted like fire, flowed softly like water, extended like wood, spread more boundlessly than earth, and slaughtered more fiercely than metal.
This didn't seem like an ultimate talent alone. It seemed to be the result of the Qilin bloodline working in concert with it.
One element couldn't conceal Ultimate Darkness. A complete cycle of all five was just right.
The Dark Qilin could masquerade as a Five-Element Qilin, transforming all its dark abilities into five-element abilities. Its combat strength was around seventy percent of the original, but my Super Douluo grandfather couldn't see through my disguise. I could leave the mountains now.
I was going out to take jobs and earn my own money to buy Pesticide!
Pesticide, activate! Today, I was going for a double kill!
"January 1, year 10000 of the Sea God Calendar. Soul power: level 35.
I finally accepted a commission at the Adventurers' Association: guiding clients around the outskirts of the Far North. They would arrive in three days and wanted to find two thousand-year ice-attribute soul beasts.
The guide fee was twenty thousand gold soul coins. I wondered which filthy rich fool had lost their mind and come to the Far North to freeze."
That night, Yu Tianjun set down his notebook. His gaze passed beyond the snow framed by the window and shifted toward the vast sky. Resting his face in both hands, his eyes bright and clear, he exuded a carefree, irreverent air as he gave a soft yawn.
"O lofty God King, I have no intention of becoming a god and being a dog in this life. I just want to live happily. You'd better not come looking for me either, because it wouldn't be hard to put on a little show for you."
Before you continue
