Background / History
Tang Hao and Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor, were lovers and the parents of Tang San. Ah Yin sacrificed herself during their confrontation with Spirit Hall. In the aftermath, Tang Hao’s father died of anger, Tang Hao was expelled from the Clear Sky Sect, and the sect withdrew from the world 21.
Tang Hao subsequently raised Tang San in Holy Soul Village, where he operated a shabby smithy. Gu Ping’an recalls that Tang San lacked adequate food and warm clothing but nevertheless prepared his father’s three daily meals. Old Jack regularly helped the family 2 5.
Tang Hao concealed Ah Yin’s surviving plant form and her soul bone in a cave behind a waterfall. While he was away following Tang San and Yu Xiaogang on a soul hunt, Gu Ping’an entered the cave, consumed the weakened Blue Silver Emperor, and stole the soul bone 5.
Disputed Motives
Gu Ping’an later argues that Tang Hao exploited Ah Yin rather than genuinely loving her. These accusations are Gu’s interpretation, not an independently established account of Tang Hao’s intentions 21.
- Ah Yin’s pregnancy: Gu questions why Tang Hao kept travelling near Spirit Hall instead of finding a safe place for her 21.
- His impending breakthrough: Gu argues that he should have secured his ninth soul ring before exposing the family to further danger 21.
- Ah Yin’s recovery: Gu condemns the dark cave as unsuitable for her revival and claims that returning her Seed of Life to the Blue Silver Forest would have restored her much faster 21.
- His drinking: Dugu Bo initially sees Tang Hao’s heavy drinking as evidence of grief. Gu instead attributes it to his father’s death, expulsion, and the disaster inflicted on his sect 21.
Appearance
Tang Hao is a burly man whose neglected appearance makes him difficult for Ning Fengzhi to recognize without his Clear Sky Hammer 4 20.
- Wears a tattered black robe when secretly watching Tang San in Nuoding City 4.
- Has a stubbled face, ragged clothing, and an unpleasant odor 20.
- Develops bloodshot eyes and heavy breathing when enraged over Xiao Wu’s disappearance 17 20.
Personality
Tang Hao openly dismisses Blue Silver Grass as a worthless martial soul. His initial cold interest in Gu Ping’an’s innate full soul power disappears as soon as he hears the boy’s martial-soul type. Even after seeing Gu’s hundred-year ring, he treats the Healing skill as proof that Gu has no combat strength 2 4.
His concern for Tang San includes secretly following him and reserving Xiao Wu as a future hundred-thousand-year soul ring. When she disappears, he rapidly concludes that Gu Rong must be responsible, mistaking the use of spatial movement for evidence against the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 5 17.
Although aggressive and willing to threaten an entire sect, Tang Hao recognizes when he is outmatched. He abandons his confrontation with Ning Fengzhi, Gu Rong, and Chen Xin rather than risk being killed 20.
