Background / History
Previous Life and Divine Birth
Before becoming Tang Wulin, he was an orphan and an academically accomplished student in another world. He died in a car accident and was reborn in the Divine Realm with his memories intact, including knowledge of the original Legend of the Dragon King. Some finer plot details have faded over time 2 5 6 8.
He is the biological son of Tang San and Xiao Wu and the younger brother of Tang Wutong. His birth occurs during the God of Destruction’s rebellion. Xiao Wu’s affection gives him his first experience of the parental warmth missing from his previous life 1 2.
Golden Dragon King Crisis and Adoption
As a newborn, Wulin nearly dies when the Golden Dragon King’s Divine Core overwhelms his body and forcibly binds itself to his bloodline. Tang San reinforces the temporary divine seals with eighteen drops of God King essence blood and places the transformed Golden Dragon Spear within a mark on him 4.
Because the Divine Realm’s energy aggravates the Core, his parents send him to the mortal world. His protected passage closes just before spacetime turbulence catastrophically strikes the Divine Realm. Tang Ziran and Lang Yue find him in a forest on Douluo Continent and adopt him, independently sensing that his name should be Tang Wulin 4.
Childhood in Aolai City
Wulin can crawl and speak clearly at two months old and independently read at one year old. He spends much of his childhood studying Aolai City’s library collections, learning the continent’s history, soul tools, cultivation institutions, and powerful figures 5.
At six, he awakens his martial souls and enters Red Mountain Academy’s soul master class. He conceals his true inheritance despite classmates’ contempt and Lin Ximeng’s refusal to give him afternoon meditation guidance. Rather than follow the original story unquestioningly, he resolves to prevent the future capture and exploitation of his adoptive parents 5 6 8 9.
After rescuing the amnesiac Gu Yuena from traffickers, Wulin persuades his parents to adopt her as Na’er. He treats her as his younger sister and tries to soften her inherited hostility toward humans through stories, companionship, and ordinary family life 10 12 13.
To finance his cultivation, he trains under Mang Tian after school. By nine, he has saved 50,000 federal coins and reached rank ten. He subsequently obtains his first soul spirit, but Na’er’s returning Silver Dragon King consciousness leads to their separation. He graduates with a recommendation for Eastsea Academy 11 14 15 18 19 20.
Eastsea City
Wulin travels alone to Eastsea Academy and joins Class Five. His attempt to settle quietly collapses when Zhou Changxi tears his bag and tramples a pillow embroidered by Lang Yue. Wulin throws Zhou and, following a misunderstanding, Xie Xie through the dormitory window. Afterward, he suspects his excessive rage was magnified by the Golden Dragon King 22 23.
His blacksmith assessment earns him third-rank qualifications and Mu Chen’s formal mentorship. With Mu Chen’s assistance, his parents move into association lodgings and Tang Ziran receives a job. The academy grants Wulin exceptional day-student permission, conditional on punctual attendance, and agrees to conceal his forging achievement 25 26 27.
Under Wu Changkong, Wulin repeatedly defeats Xie Xie through restraint skills but discovers the limits of his reserves during whole-class combat. Wu selects the two boys to represent Class Five in the Class Promotion Tournament, aiming to make it first grade’s Class One within a month 28 29 30 31.
Appearance
Wulin’s conspicuous coloring makes his adoptive relationship to Tang Ziran visibly apparent and attracts attention even when he wears plain clothing 5 22.
- Hair: Short, soft azure-blue hair, sometimes described as translucent or sea-colored 5 22.
- Eyes: Clear sapphire-blue eyes 5 28.
- Skin and build: Fair skin and a straight, slender, well-proportioned figure 14 22.
- Height: Grows from approximately 1.2 meters to 1.45 meters over three years, placing him above his age group’s average 14.
- Supernatural markings: A golden Sea God Trident mark can appear between his brows; golden light and diamond-shaped patterns briefly appear across his body during meditation 7 31.
Personality
Wulin is outwardly polite and composed but inwardly analytical, anxious about his bloodline, and armed with an adult’s perspective. He deliberately conceals exceptional abilities because premature exposure could endanger his family. His caution does not prevent decisive action when Na’er faces abduction 6 8 9 10.
He values the parents who raised him more deeply than his distant biological ties. Protecting Tang Ziran and Lang Yue is a central motive, and he often hides injuries or school troubles to spare them worry. His initial closeness to Na’er includes concern for his own survival, but years together transform it into genuine sibling love 6 9 12 20 27.
His discipline combines ambition with financial independence: he endures painful forging, saves carefully, and takes commissions to support cultivation. He remains grateful to Mang Tian even after accepting a more accomplished formal master 11 15 26 31.
Wulin distrusts simplistic accounts of good and evil. He regards historical conflicts as matters of competing interests and criticizes the Spirit Pagoda’s exploitation of soul beasts. Alongside this serious outlook, he enjoys teasing Xie Xie and occasionally lets previous-life internet jokes slip into conversation 6 12 28 29.
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver Emperor
His publicly identified martial soul is actually a sealed, juvenile Blue Silver Emperor. Golden Dragon King influence adds fine golden markings and strengthens its otherwise ordinary-looking form 5 7 10 13.
- Pre-ring restraint: Can produce vines to briefly bind adults before obtaining a soul ring, enabled by his Blue Silver Emperor heritage and hidden dragon power 10.
- Cultivation assistance: Grass sprouts around him during meditation and appears to absorb ambient soul power for him 14.
- Defensive support: Vines catch his body during the dormitory fight and form a shield wall against a barrage of classmates’ soul skills 23 29.
- Observed suppression: Zhou Changxi finds his Mighty Ape martial soul unable to activate while bound by Wulin’s grass; the precise mechanism is not established 24.
- Limit: The Blue Silver Emperor bloodline has not fully awakened 13 19.
Blue Silver Forest
His first soul skill spreads dense grass within a ten-meter radius and converts it into tough binding vines. It supports his chosen control-and-support cultivation path 19 28.
- Restrains limbs and targets joints, preventing opponents from cutting themselves free 28.
- Repeatedly defeats rank-eighteen Xie Xie while Wulin is rank twelve 28 29.
- Holds Mang Tian against physical resistance; Mang Tian ultimately breaks free by releasing greater power 19.
- Briefly binds Wu Changkong, though the teacher’s cultivation and technique allow him to escape 30.
- Limit: Large-area use can exhaust Wulin’s soul and spiritual power, causing unconsciousness 30.
Clear Sky Hammer
His concealed second martial soul is a deep-black, ancient-patterned hammer accompanied by purple lightning and an oppressive sense of weight 7.
- Summoned from his left hand, independently of Blue Silver Grass 6 7.
- Expands rapidly when supplied with soul power 7.
- Limit: At six, its escalating weight exceeds his physical control. Withdrawing it requires intense concentration and nearly drains his remaining energy 7.
- Kept secret partly because he fears revealing it could attract the Demon Empress’s vengeance 9.
Golden Dragon King Bloodline
The Golden Dragon King’s power is an inherited alteration of his physique, not a third martial soul. It strengthens him while remaining a potentially fatal internal threat 4 6 13.
- Replenishes stamina when he reaches exhaustion during early forging 11.
- Produces extraordinary strength: his tested readings reach 700 kilograms in the right arm and 675 kilograms in the left 21.
- Creates extreme hunger and powerful digestion, leaving him hungry even after eating 24.
- Stabilizes the abnormal reaction during his hundred-year soul spirit fusion 18.
- A single unintended heavy kick breaks Zhou Changxi’s rib and throws him more than five meters 29.
- Risks: Painful bloodline surges, alteration of his martial soul, and suspected amplification of aggression 7 13 23.
Divine Sense and Sea God Protection
Wulin possesses exceptional spiritual reserves, but their usable extent is concealed and restricted 4 18.
- His newborn divine sense reaches the peak of a Second-Level God, helping resist the Divine Core’s corruption 4.
- A spiritual-power test records 99, interpreted as late-stage Spirit Origin. An unnoticed blue-gold force suppresses his far greater true reserves 18.
- Divine power from his Sea God Trident mark suppresses bloodline rampages, tempers his skeleton, and expels impurities 7.
- Limit: His newborn body cannot safely or properly wield his divine sense 4.
Forging
Wulin combines studied theory, precise hammer control, endurance, and an intuitive understanding of metal 11 12 21.
- Completes 2,015 hammer strikes during his initial trial before collapsing 12.
- Produces flawless basic mecha parts after three years of practice 15.
- Successfully Thousand-Refines heavy silver on his first attempt 21.
- Uses Stacked Hammers, whose overlapping vibrations improve forging efficiency; his command remains preliminary 22.
- Earns third-rank qualifications at nine, breaking the association headquarters’ historical record 26 31.
- Supports himself through paid metal-purification commissions 31.

- Lang Yue — Adoptive mother. Her care anchors Wulin’s sense of family; Zhou’s trampling of her embroidered pillow triggers his dormitory outburst 4 6 12 23.
- Tang San — Biological father and Sea God. Seals the Golden Dragon King Core and sends him away to survive. Wulin suspects him of later intervention but feels little developed familial attachment to him 4 6.

- Tang Wutong — Biological elder sister. Grieves his departure and hands Tang San the Golden Dragon Spear 4.

- Xie Xie — Classmate, persistent sparring rival, and tournament partner. Pays Wulin’s repair bill and repeatedly loses to his binding skill 25 28 29 31.

- Liu Yuxin — Helpful senior who explains Eastsea Academy’s rules and directs him through enrollment 23.
