Tang Wulin was somewhat speechless.
All he had wanted was a quiet train ride back to Shrek City, yet somehow he had ended up a hostage. Where was he supposed to go to demand justice?
At that moment, Red Skull's large, bony hand gripped the back of his neck, holding him out in front as a human shield while he shouted for Wu Changkong to get out of the way.
"Kid, consider this your unlucky day!"
Red Skull grinned viciously and tightened his grip on the back of Tang Wulin's neck.
"Cooperate with me now, and once I'm safe, I might just spare your little life."
Tang Wulin rolled his eyes inwardly. He finally understood: he and Soul Guidance Trains were born to clash. Every time he rode one, something went wrong.
Still, the current situation was not all that bad. At least Red Skull had taken him for an ordinary child and completely dismissed him.
Just as Tang Wulin was considering how to escape, a commotion suddenly broke out at the other end of the carriage.
Then a train attendant in uniform came stumbling over, his face deathly pale and his voice trembling.
"N-no! There are Evil Soul Masters in the rear carriages too! They've killed so many people!"
Wu Changkong frowned and looked toward the rear. Sure enough, through the glass connecting the carriages, he could vaguely see another group of Evil Soul Masters running rampant. Their leader, a tall, thin man in green robes, was directing his subordinates to slaughter the passengers.
Clearly, this was another band of Evil Soul Masters.
At the sight, Red Skull burst into triumphant laughter. "Hahaha! My brother's here! Boy, what good is being strong when you're all alone? You can save this end, but can you save the other?"
Wu Changkong's expression darkened. He was indeed powerful, but he could not be in two places at once.
Red Skull held a hostage at the front, while Green Skull led a massacre at the rear. There was no way he could handle both battlefields alone.
The passengers in the carriage once again descended into panic. Cries and screams rose one after another, plunging everything into chaos.
At that moment, Tang Wulin, still gripped by the back of his neck, suddenly spoke. "Hey, handsome."
Wu Changkong looked at him.
"Go save the people in the back first. Leave this side to me." Tang Wulin's voice was quiet, but his tone was unusually firm. "I can handle this ugly bastard."
Wu Changkong froze briefly. He looked into Tang Wulin's clear, bright eyes and saw not a trace of fear or hesitation, only a composure and certainty far beyond his age.
He was clearly only a six- or seven-year-old child, yet somehow he made others feel safe.
Wu Changkong fell silent for a moment, then nodded. "All right."
Wu Changkong turned and charged straight toward the rear, intending to kill the enemies there as quickly as possible before returning to rescue Tang Wulin.
Watching Wu Changkong leave, Red Skull first stared in surprise, then erupted into wild laughter.
"Hahaha! That boy actually left? He really believes a little brat like you can stop me? That's hilarious! You have no idea what a Soul Emperor is, do you?"
Tang Wulin did not answer. The corners of his mouth merely curved upward.
"And you, brat, you really enjoy sacrificing yourself for others, don't you? How utterly stupid..." Red Skull grinned viciously, abruptly tightening his grip on the back of Tang Wulin's neck.
"Since you're so eager to die, then die!"
Tang Wulin still said nothing.
Red Skull sensed something was wrong. He looked down and found that Tang Wulin's eyes had turned golden at some point. Those once-clear eyes now gleamed with an icy light, like the omen of an ancient beast about to awaken.
"You..."
Before Red Skull could finish, Tang Wulin suddenly moved.
He moved so fast that Red Skull had no time to react.
Tang Wulin abruptly ducked, slipping free of Red Skull's grip. At the same time, he pressed the fingers of his right hand together, a layer of golden scales covering their tips, and stabbed straight toward Red Skull's abdomen.
Squelch!
A muffled sound rang out.
Red Skull looked down to see a small golden hand piercing straight through his abdomen. Warm blood gushed from the wound, staining his robes red.
His eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.
"H-how is this possible..."
He was a Six-Ring Soul Emperor! How could a six- or seven-year-old brat possibly wound him?
Tang Wulin withdrew his right hand, flicked off the blood, and looked up with a brilliant smile. "Ugly bastard, I told you I could handle you."
Clutching the wound in his abdomen, Red Skull staggered two steps backward, his expression mingling shock and fury.
He violently unleashed his soul power. Six Soul Rings rose from beneath his feet—two yellow, two purple, and two black—and the oppressive aura of a Soul Emperor instantly spread through the carriage.
"You little bastard... you're courting death!" Red Skull gritted his teeth, his face twisted with viciousness. "I don't care who you are. You're going to die today!"
Tang Wulin wasted no words and released his martial soul. The Soft-Boned Enchanting Rabbit merged with him, a pair of rabbit ears standing upright as two purple Soul Rings rose from beneath his feet and slowly revolved.
At the sight of those two purple Soul Rings, Red Skull's pupils abruptly contracted. "Thousand-Year Soul Rings? Two of them? You... who exactly are you?"
Red Skull was utterly shaken, because no matter how he looked at Tang Wulin, the boy appeared to be only seven or eight years old.
"The one who'll kill you!" Tang Wulin flashed a toothy grin.
Red Skull was so furious that he laughed. "Good! Very good! A two-ring brat dares act so arrogant in front of me? Today, I'll show you just how vast the gap between a Soul Emperor and a Soul Master is!"
Before his words had faded, Red Skull lunged forward, his hands curled into claws. An eerie green light gleamed at his fingertips, clearly marking a poison-laced soul skill.
He was incredibly fast, reaching Tang Wulin in almost the blink of an eye and raking a claw toward his chest.
Tang Wulin's figure flickered as he activated Teleportation, instantly appearing three meters behind Red Skull. Red Skull's claw struck empty air, but he remained calm and immediately blasted a wave of soul power behind him with a backhand strike.
Tang Wulin teleported again, evading the attack as he thrust out his right Golden Dragon Claw toward Red Skull's back.
With a ripping sound, Red Skull's robes tore open, revealing several bloody gashes. Stung by the pain, Red Skull spun around and launched another heavy blow, but Tang Wulin had already vanished with another teleport.
The two traded blows in the cramped carriage, locked in a fierce battle. Although Red Skull's soul power far surpassed Tang Wulin's, Tang Wulin's Teleportation was simply too nimble. He could move freely within twenty meters, leaving Red Skull unable to touch even the hem of his clothes.
Meanwhile, Tang Wulin's Golden Dragon Claw, combined with his berserk soul skill, inflicted considerable damage on Red Skull with every attack.
The surrounding passengers watched with their jaws hanging open. A six- or seven-year-old child was actually trading blows evenly with a Six-Ring Soul Emperor? It turned everything they knew upside down.
But Tang Wulin knew he was still at a disadvantage. The gap in soul power was undeniable. Every teleport consumed his soul power, and although Red Skull was wounded, his reserves were far greater. The longer this dragged on, the worse it would be for Tang Wulin.
Sure enough, Red Skull realized this too. He stopped pursuing and stood where he was, grinning viciously at Tang Wulin. "Kid, your Teleportation really is troublesome, but how much longer will your soul power last? Once you run dry, let's see how you escape!"
Tang Wulin panted heavily, beads of sweat already forming on his forehead. Red Skull was right. He was consuming soul power too quickly. If this continued, he would exhaust himself before long.
Seeing him stop, Red Skull laughed even more wildly. "What's wrong? Out of strength? Hahaha! Don't worry, I won't let you die too quickly. Once I catch you, I'll refine you into a demon infant and torment you every day, until you can neither live nor die!"
