The Voice in Her Dream, Ma Xiaotao's Attack

Wang Yan, standing nearby, was astonished. He hadn't expected the match to end so quickly.

He noticed that Wang Dong'er observed the battle in meticulous detail and had good agility, allowing her to dodge her opponents' attacks in time.

More importantly, Wang Dong'er and Xiao Xiao worked exceptionally well together. With one attacking from the front and the other from behind, even most of the new students would have had no time to react.

As for Huo Yuhao, he offered no assessment, because he hadn't seen Huo Yuhao make a move. In truth, however, Huo Yuhao had played the biggest role in this battle.

"We won!" Xiao Xiao was delighted.

Wang Dong'er ran over and hugged Huo Yuhao.

"Yuhao, we won."

Feeling Wang Dong'er's warmth, Huo Yuhao blushed.

"Yeah, we won."

Huo Yuhao was also thrilled to have won his first match.

Watching the two of them, Xiao Xiao held her clenched fists in front of her mouth and giggled.

To give the new students time to adjust, there was only one match on the first day. Once it was over, they could go back and rest.

Wang Dong'er and the other two went to the dining hall and bought a pile of food to properly celebrate their first victory.

"We have four matches tomorrow. We'll have to keep giving it our all."

Xiao Xiao spoke as she took big mouthfuls of food.

Who knew how the academy had worked out the schedule? Four matches in a day was far too exhausting.

If all their opponents were evenly matched with them, they would probably have no strength left by the fourth match.

"By the way, shouldn't we stay and watch the other groups' matches? If we face them later, we'll be better prepared," Huo Yuhao said.

"What, don't you have faith in our strength? Whoever our opponents are, we can win." Wang Dong'er was brimming with confidence.

"That's right. We can beat them all," Xiao Xiao agreed.

Wang Dong'er's confidence rubbed off on Huo Yuhao too.

"All right, let's give it our all tomorrow!"

They all happily enjoyed their food together.

During these few days of assessments, Huo Yuhao needed to focus entirely on preparing, so he stopped selling grilled fish.

That evening, the two of them sat on the bed and began cultivating together again.

Huo Yuhao felt his Soul Power merging ever more harmoniously with Wang Dong'er's, as though the two of them had become one.

As she cultivated, Wang Dong'er suddenly felt as though someone was calling her. The voice was very familiar.

"Who are you? Who's calling me?"

"Wang Dong'er."

Wang Dong'er seemed to hear Wang Qiu'er's voice.

"Qiu'er, is that you?"

"Dong'er, come find me. You must come find me."

"Where are you? Where should I go to find you?"

"Hey, say something!"

Wang Dong'er's calls received no response.

By the time she woke again, it was already the next morning.

Wang Dong'er realized she had fallen asleep right on the bed and was lying on top of Huo Yuhao.

"You're finally awake. You nearly crushed me to death."

Huo Yuhao sat up and rubbed his chest.

Wang Dong'er straightened her clothes. "You didn't do anything to me last night, did you?"

"You suddenly keeled over while we were cultivating last night. I thought you'd fainted, so I tried to catch you, but you ended up pinning me down instead. You had me trapped so tightly, what could I possibly have done?"

Wang Dong'er's face reddened slightly. "Sorry. I think I suddenly fell asleep last night."

Wang Dong'er suddenly remembered what Qiu'er had told her. She had asked Wang Dong'er to find her.

But Wang Qiu'er was already dead. Where was I supposed to find her?

Could she mean I should find the Three-Eyed Golden Lion?

But the Three-Eyed Golden Lion hadn't become Wang Qiu'er yet, and I had no chance of going to the Star Dou Great Forest right now.

"What are you thinking about?"

Huo Yuhao interrupted Wang Dong'er's thoughts.

"Nothing. I was thinking we should hurry and get something to eat. We have a lot of matches today, so we need to eat our fill."

As usual, Xiao Xiao was waiting for them downstairs.

Seeing Huo Yuhao looking a little haggard, she wore that odd smile again.

Wang Dong'er couldn't be bothered with her anymore. She could think whatever she liked.

On their way to the assessment area, the three of them suddenly encountered Ma Xiaotao.

"I finally found you," Ma Xiaotao said with a smile.

"Senior, what did you need us for?" Huo Yuhao asked.

"You must have recognized me, right? I'm the one who attacked you on Sea God Lake that day. I'm truly sorry."

When Ma Xiaotao had seen them that day, they had struck her as very familiar. After investigating, she learned that Wang Dong'er and her companions were the ones she had encountered at Sea God Lake.

"It's fine. It's all in the past, and the academy has already compensated us anyway."

Wang Dong'er wanted to put this matter behind them as quickly as possible.

"Thank you so much for your understanding. I wanted to ask whether you saw an Ice Attribute Soul Master that day. He's very important to me. Please, you must tell me where he is." Ma Xiaotao's tone was very gentle.

"An Ice Attribute Soul Master? We didn't see one. We passed out right away," Xiao Xiao blurted out.

Wang Dong'er had shielded her behind her, so she hadn't seen Huo Yuhao's strike.

"You really didn't?"

Ma Xiaotao's voice grew much lower.

"We really didn't," Huo Yuhao said firmly.

He didn't want to expose the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm.

"Since you refuse to talk, don't blame me for getting rough. I know he's protecting you. I'll force him to show himself."

Ma Xiaotao's attitude changed completely.

Flames ignited over her body as she prepared to attack them.

Wang Dong'er had anticipated this. She immediately released her Martial Soul and pulled Xiao Xiao and Huo Yuhao back.

Ma Xiaotao hadn't expected them to react so quickly either. She froze for a moment, then hurried after them.

"Help! Somebody, help! An upper-year senior is trying to kill us!"

Wang Dong'er shouted at the top of her lungs.

She refused to believe Ma Xiaotao would dare attack them in the academy with everyone watching.

Ma Xiaotao was fast. With Huo Yuhao and Xiao Xiao in tow, Wang Dong'er had no hope of outrunning her.

Through Huo Yuhao's Spiritual Detection, Wang Dong'er noticed the path of Ma Xiaotao's hand as she reached to grab them.

Wang Dong'er abruptly dropped lower and successfully dodged it.

"Three-Life Soul-Suppressing Cauldron, go!"

Xiao Xiao merged her three Three-Life Soul-Suppressing Cauldrons into one enormous cauldron and sent it crashing toward Ma Xiaotao.

Ma Xiaotao struck out with her hand, easily swatting the giant cauldron away.

During that brief delay, quite a few students noticed what was happening.

"Do you think I'd be afraid of them?"

With everyone watching, Ma Xiaotao actually attacked them.

She seized Wang Dong'er and Huo Yuhao, her terrifying strength robbing them of any ability to resist.

Xiao Xiao fell back onto the ground. The aura radiating from Ma Xiaotao was so terrifying that she felt as though she would melt.

Despite having caught them, Ma Xiaotao felt no joy, only deep confusion. The Ice Attribute Soul Master she wanted to force out hadn't made a move at all.

"Let us go!"

Wang Dong'er clasped Huo Yuhao's hand. Their Haodong Power erupted, breaking them free of Ma Xiaotao's grip.

Ma Xiaotao was slightly surprised. She hadn't expected them to unleash such power, but it still had nothing to do with the Ice Attribute.

"As an upper-year senior, attacking us is a blatant violation of academy rules. I'm going to report you!" Wang Dong'er shouted.
