Morning sunlight streamed into the room through the enormous floor-to-ceiling windows, gilding everything with a warm golden edge. Tang Wulin sat at the dining table, his two short little legs dangling in the air and swinging idly. The plate before him was piled with a sumptuous breakfast—golden, crispy spirit rice bread, fragrant soul beast meat porridge, and several delicate pastries.

Though his body had shrunk, the terrifying appetite he had inherited from the Golden Dragon King had not diminished in the slightest. Tang Wulin held a piece of bread in his left hand and a spoon in his right, ready to enter his usual "devouring mode" and sweep through the meal like a gale through scattered clouds, when a fair, slender hand suddenly reached over and gently took both the spoon and bread away.

"Hm?" With half a piece of bread still between his teeth, Tang Wulin looked up blankly, blinking his big, dark eyes in confusion.

At some point, Gu Yue had taken the seat beside him. Resting her chin on one hand, she watched the unsuspecting little fellow with a languid smile in her violet eyes and said softly, "Wulin, starting today, I'll be feeding you breakfast."

"Huh?" Tang Wulin froze, then his little face flushed bright red. He hastily swallowed the bread in his mouth and waved his small hands in protest. "Gu Yue, I'm not a child anymore! I can eat by myself, really! Besides, you know how much I eat... you'll wear yourself out!"

"I don't mind." Gu Yue gave him no chance to argue. She reached out and drew him, chair and all, closer to her, settling him sideways on her lap. Then she scooped up a spoonful of warm meat porridge, blew on it gently, and brought it to his lips. "Open up."
