• Madara battled Nagato’s summons and techniques, then bound Nagato with the Asura Path’s Mechanical Armor and nearly extracted his soul with the Human Path.

• Sakura woke in Konoha Hospital, and Ino told her she had been unconscious for three months after Sasuke trapped her in a powerful Sharingan Genjutsu.
• Shizune told Sakura that the Five Great Nations had formed an alliance after a masked man defeated the Five Kage and declared a war to come in three years.
• Sakura recognized the masked man as Obito and resolved to tell Tsunade about the future she had seen when Tsunade returned in three days.
• Rock Lee and Neji joined Ino and Sakura’s friends at her bedside, easing Sakura’s distress.
• Madara Uchiha stood above Konoha, vowed to destroy Hashirama’s dream, and released a tremendous surge of chakra.

Inoichi warned Kakashi that Madara Uchiha had invaded Konoha and might use Naruto to destroy the village. Kakashi confronted Madara on the Kage Rock, resolved to stop him, and prepared to fight to the death.

• Inoichi contacted Kakashi and revealed that Madara might use Naruto to destroy Konoha, devastating Naruto if he regained control.

Madara defeated Konoha’s ANBU squad captains while Black Zetsu took control of Inoichi and used his Mind Transmission Technique to tell the village that Naruto had betrayed it. The chapter ended with Konoha’s shinobi receiving Black Zetsu’s false accusation as they prepared to confront Madara in Naruto’s body.

• Madara let Might Guy carry the unconscious Kakashi away, then learned Black Zetsu had disappeared and hid Izuna inside the Rinnegan lizard.
• Madara landed in the ruins of the Hokage's office and withstood the four ANBU captains’ combined ninjutsu without injury.

Black Zetsu killed Inoichi and framed Sasuke, while Madara, posing as Naruto, attacked Konoha with Susanoo. Iruka confronted Madara and pleaded for Naruto to wake up, prompting Naruto to cry out from within.

• Black Zetsu set Inoichi ablaze, disguised himself as Sasuke, and told Shikamaru and Ino that Inoichi had died.
• Shikamaru stopped Ino from attacking the disguised Black Zetsu, and Ino resolved to take her father's place coordinating the others.
• Madara advanced on Konoha's forces inside Susanoo and cut through buildings and Ninja with its swords.

Naruto’s suppressed will briefly disrupted Madara’s control, but Madara regained control and fought the Konoha clans gathering to stop him. He ended the chapter preparing to fire a Tailed Beast Cannon at the assembled Ninja.

• Naruto’s stirring will collapsed Susanoo and made Madara offer to spare Iruka, but Iruka refused to kill Naruto and Madara soon regained control.
• Madara kicked Iruka aside and impaled the Ninja who rushed him, while reinforcements from the Aburame, Nara, Hyuga, and Sarutobi Clans arrived.
• Shino and the Aburame Clan attacked with insects, but Madara scattered them with Shinra Tensei and drove back the Sarutobi Clan’s flames with his own Fire Release.
• Neji told Hiashi that he had knocked Hinata unconscious to stop her from acting rashly, and urged Hiashi to watch over her.
• The Nara Clan restrained Madara with shadow techniques, but he absorbed them before Hiashi struck Susanoo with Eight Trigrams Empty Palm and drove Madara back.

Shikamaru coordinated Konoha’s forces to combine Earth, Hyuga, and Wind Release techniques and divert Madara’s Tailed Beast Bomb into the sky. Madara then unveiled his Perfect Susanoo, leaving Konoha facing an even greater threat.

• Shikamaru urged the Konoha forces to build Earth-Style Walls and then reinforce them with the Universal Earth technique as Madara’s Tailed Beast Bomb tore through their defenses.
• Shikamaru directed the Hyuga Clan to strike the bomb’s underside with Eight Trigrams Empty Palm while Wind Release users prepared to help.

Madara and Izuna’s Perfect Susanoo devastated Konoha and cornered its defenders, while Akimi stayed behind to buy time for the others to escape. As Akimi was badly wounded and the village’s survivors fled, Might Guy prepared to use his final technique to stop the destruction.

• Madara’s Perfect Susanoo slashed through Konoha and raised its foot over Hiashi and the Hyuga clan.
• Akimi caught Susanoo’s foot, then urged the shinobi to flee and told Shikamaru to lead them to Sunagakure.
• Choji chose to leave after Neji stopped him from taking the Red Pills, while Akimi expanded and fought Susanoo alone.
• Susanoo knocked away Akimi’s Steel Staff and severed his arm as Choji retreated with the fleeing crowd.
• Might Guy told Rock Lee to escort Shizune and Kakashi away, then began preparing to sacrifice himself before someone called out, “Wait.”

Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu stayed behind to help Konoha’s retreat, revealing a forbidden barrier technique against Uchiha chakra. After they trapped Madara’s Complete Body Susanoo, Madara escaped and the two elders prepared to fight him while Might Guy and Rock Lee continued the evacuation.

• Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu told Might Guy that Naruto was being controlled and that they would stay behind to cover the retreat.
• Might Guy and Rock Lee charged in to help after Rock Lee rescued the gravely wounded Akimi... from Madara’s Susanoo.

Sasuke experimented with using microscopic bone energy to strengthen Susanoo enough to draw its divine bow, but the attempt failed when Susanoo's arm was torn off. Kabuto reported that Madara had attacked Konoha, and Sasuke insisted on going to confront him despite it being too soon for their final battle.

• Izuna urged Madara to exterminate the fleeing Konoha forces, and Madara unleashed his Sage Cursed Art and a massive meteor toward their valley.
• Might Guy was caught in Itachi’s Heart Flow genjutsu just as he tried to open the Gate of Death.
