Yoshio Uchiha and the other two stood frozen in place.
A chill seeped out from deep within their bones.
For one reason alone: the things spinning in Jin Uchiha's eyes.
Those were the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
"How is this possible... Isn't Jin Uchiha supposed to be a notorious loser?"
Only after a long struggle did one of them manage to force those words out of his throat.
"If you were this strong, why did you hide it?"
"Why?"
That was the only question left in their minds.
In the Uchiha clan, the Sharingan was everything.
Who would dare call someone with the Three-Tomoe Sharingan useless?
But why keep it secret?
Normally, anyone with that kind of ability would show it off, letting the clan know, letting the village know.
That was how they earned more resources, killed more enemies on the battlefield, and polished the Uchiha name to an even brighter shine.
Unfortunately, they would never learn the answer.
The killing intent in Jin Uchiha's heart had been fully ignited.
The dead had no business knowing so much.
They just needed to shut their mouths and head to the Pure Land.
"Six Powers, Soru!"
His legs exploded with power, and he vanished from the spot in the blink of an eye.
His speed was absurd. Even their Sharingan couldn't track him, barely catching a faint afterimage.
The Great Fireball Technique and the barrage of Kunai and Shuriken hit nothing.
Before Yoshio Uchiha could react, a figure was already pressed close behind his back.
"Six Powers, Shigan!"
The instant he extended his index finger, all the chakra in his body was forced into its tip.
A muffled squelch rang out.
Yoshio's breastbone shattered, leaving a fist-sized bloody hole.
The heart inside was no longer even remotely intact.
Every trace of color drained from Yu Uchiha's and Ryo Uchiha's faces.
Their calves trembled uncontrollably, and their Sharingan held nothing but terror.
Seeing the Three-Tomoe Sharingan earlier had frightened them.
But they had still clung to a shred of hope.
Even if we can't beat him, surely we can run?
Their leader, Yoshio Uchiha, was a prominent elite within the clan. Even across the entire Hidden Leaf Village, he ranked among the strongest Chunin.
And what had happened?
He hadn't even had a chance to defend himself. One move, and he was dead.
The gap was so vast that they couldn't even summon the will to resist.
Both of them were sick with regret.
Had they known he was this vicious, they wouldn't have dared come block his way even with ten times the courage.
They couldn't understand it. They really fucking couldn't.
If you're this strong, you could've said so earlier!
What the hell is wrong with you?
But while they cursed him inwardly, their mouths had already begun begging for mercy.
"Jin Uchiha, please let us go."
"Yoshio Uchiha forced us into this. It had nothing to do with us."
"We're just a couple of small fry. There's no need to bother with us."
"Rest assured, we won't breathe a word about what happened today."
"We swear on the Sage of Six Paths. Really, not a single word."
They weren't stupid.
Judging by that last move, they couldn't so much as twitch before Jin Uchiha's speed.
If they wanted to live, talking was their only option.
But it was useless.
Jin Uchiha vanished once again.
In no more than ten seconds altogether, two more mangled bodies lay on the ground.
They had died exactly as Yoshio Uchiha had.
Blood still flowed from the holes in their chests, their hearts already reduced to pulped flesh.
Jin Uchiha stood where he was and glanced at the three corpses at his feet.
His eyes showed not the slightest ripple of emotion. He looked as calm as if he had stepped on a few ants.
"Begging for mercy?"
"If begging worked, why bother learning ninjutsu?"
"That should do it. Time to go."
Once he finished muttering to himself, he vanished again.
Deathly silence settled over the outskirts of the Forest of Death once more.
Time crept onward.
About two hours later, something stark white slowly pushed up from underground.
Like a plant, he seemed to sprout out of nowhere.
He glanced at the three corpses on the ground and began muttering.
"How awful. Such huge holes in their chests."
"Such clean taijutsu. Was that brat really an Uchiha?"
"Another promising youngster has cropped up among Lord Madara's clansmen."
"This trip wasn't wasted. What an unexpected find."
"I need to hurry back and tell Lord Madara about this."
With that, he started sinking back underground.
But at that very moment, an afterimage flashed into place beside him, moving too fast to follow.
"Six Powers, Rankyaku—White Thunder!"
The figure spun through a sweeping arc in midair and brought his leg down. A pale blue crescent of light sliced toward White Zetsu along the ground.
Before White Zetsu could process what was happening, his body was torn in half down the middle.
The next second.
Jin Uchiha, who had left long ago, stood in that very same spot again.
His arms were folded, his face expressionless.
Only after looking down at White Zetsu's two halves did he let out a slow sigh.
"Fuck. I knew it."
"That old bastard Madara Uchiha is still alive. How could this little patch of the Hidden Leaf, especially Uchiha territory, not have White Zetsu watching it?"
"Good thing I'm cautious enough. I've mastered the art of lying low."
"Otherwise, that old bastard might really have sunk his teeth into me."
After reflecting on that, he nudged White Zetsu's remains with his foot and began speaking in his mind.
System, get out here.
Don't try to fool me. Storage space is a basic feature. You think I don't know that?
Hurry up and unlock it for me.
In truth, Jin Uchiha wasn't confident.
He had no idea whether his lousy system even had that function.
To put it simply, he was doing one thing.
Bluffing.
[Ding. Host, you really do talk too much.] [Storage space delivered. Stop bothering me.] [I'm out.]
Only upon hearing that did his anxious heart settle.
His gamble had paid off.
He wasted no more time, stuffing White Zetsu's remains into the storage space before leaving again.
Silence once again fell over the edge of the Forest of Death.
Another two hours and more passed before Jin Uchiha reappeared.
"Yeah, all right."
"This time, there shouldn't be any fellow cautious bastards lying in wait for me."
"Time to get down to business."
Without stopping, he made his way back to his own backyard, grabbed his tools, and began digging.
After about ten minutes, something emerged in the pit.
A corpse.
More precisely, a corpse encased solidly in ice, with a Hidden Cloud Village forehead protector still on its head.
Looking at the lump of ice before him, Jin Uchiha's thoughts drifted back two years.
Back then, he had been just a little third-year brat.
One night, just as he was about to go to bed, a Hidden Cloud Village ninja had slipped silently into his home.
After subduing the man, he had pried some information out of him.
That Hidden Cloud Village squad's mission had been to collect Kekkei Genkai.
Whether Uchiha or Hyuga, both were on their hunting list.
The fellow before him had simply been unlucky enough to fall into Jin Uchiha's hands.
Into the hands of a veteran at lying low who spent every day pretending to be a coward.
After killing him, Jin had told no one. He had merely had a vague feeling that the corpse might prove useful someday.
So he had frozen it in ice and buried it underground for two whole years.
And now, the time had come.
