Kakashi walked over, dangling Kakuzu's head in his hand. Taking in the horrific devastation around him, he clicked his tongue. "The Akatsuki sure knows how to make a mess."
"Naruto did this."
Sasuke, his hand wrapped in bandages, offered the clarification without expression.
"...Looks like that kid's scarier than the Akatsuki."
After a moment of silence, Kakashi sighed.
Having asked Hinata a few questions and learned how powerful this team was, Mei Terumi glanced at the object in Kakashi's hand and blinked, seemingly asking him with her eyes, "Taken care of?"
"He got away. His Ninjutsu is peculiar. I've heard of shedding your tail to survive, but never your head."
Kakashi turned Kakuzu's head over, revealing that there were no organs inside, only masses of writhing black threads and blood that seeped out from time to time.
There was nothing else in there. The sight alone was nauseating.
"The inside of his head has a very strange structure. No organs. Unfortunately, by the time I realized something was wrong, his body had disappeared."
Kakashi shrugged, indicating that this was a first for him too.
"At least we still have his head. We'll take it back to the village and hope the Decryption Team can get some information out of it."
But when everyone reached Naruto and Hidan, they found a scene none of them had expected.
