Konoha Hospital.
The few nurses and doctors left were all on high alert.
They barely stopped moving from morning to night, hurrying in and out of every ward. Each nurse carried several times her usual load of patient records.
"Miss Kurenai, time for your routine checkup!"
A nurse and a doctor hurried into Kurenai Yuhi's room. After carefully checking how her injuries were healing, the doctor nodded and said:
"You're recovering well, Miss Kurenai. Remember to take these medicines on schedule."
Then he turned to the nurse. "If there are no problems, arrange for her to stay another week to recuperate. I'll be going!"
"Wait, doctor! Didn't you say I could have another checkup the day after tomorrow and be discharged if everything was fine?"
Kurenai Yuhi wanted to ask more, but the doctor had already rushed away without looking back. He looked terribly anxious, even breaking into a jog down the hospital corridor without taking off his white coat.
He was a veteran doctor, highly respected in Konoha.
He had served as a medic during the Fourth Shinobi World War and weathered plenty of storms. Normally, he was always calm and methodical.
Seeing him act like this today left Kurenai Yuhi stunned.
The nurse hurriedly apologized and explained to the bewildered Kurenai:
"I'm terribly sorry. Most of the hospital staff received an emergency summons from the village this morning. The doctor was worried about his patients, so he insisted on finishing their checkups before leaving. He's probably running out of time now."
