The kidnapping

The Flying Thunder God Technique was a Ninjutsu developed by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju. It was counted among the hardest Ninjutsu to learn and belonged to the most extraordinary category of all: Space-Time Ninjutsu.

The many extremely advanced ninjutsu recorded in Konoha's inherited archives were so difficult that only a handful of even its jonin could learn them. But even those who could not master them needed to learn how to recognize these techniques, lest they find themselves unprepared in unusual circumstances. As a jonin, Might Guy therefore knew of the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Moreover, the Fourth Hokage had been the teacher of Kakashi, his great rival. His title of Yellow Flash had come from the Flying Thunder God Technique, with which he had earned countless merits during the Fourth Shinobi World War. So when Guy observed Naruto closely a second time, he realized exactly what Naruto had mastered.

He did not know the truth that Naruto was the Fourth Hokage's son. Even if he had known, it would not have changed what he was thinking at that moment.

Naruto was still far too young. Only jonin knew how to decipher most of Konoha's sealed scrolls containing difficult ninjutsu. Even if Naruto had gotten his hands on one, he would have had no one to undo the seal for him so he could learn the techniques within.

Guy instinctively suspected that someone wanted to use the Nine-Tails within the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki to cause chaos and had therefore taught him the Flying Thunder God Technique from the Scroll of Seals.

But Guy also had to admit that, with his brains, no amount of thinking could explain how the person who had taught Naruto this Formula intended to exploit the Nine-Tails.

Nor was this something he could easily discuss with someone else. Though Guy usually acted so carefree that he seemed utterly clueless, he had become a Jonin for a reason. He understood the situation perfectly well.

In Konoha, neither the high command nor the populace were entirely united. Whether it was Root or the other prestigious clans, they did not necessarily share the interests of the Ninja led by Lord Hokage.

Back then, Lord Hokage's orders to every Ninja of chunin rank or higher concerning the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki had been as simple, clear, and indisputable as possible.

Minimize all contact. Treat him as a stranger.

Guy himself had done just that. When he first encountered Naruto and the others, his interest had largely been sparked by noticing a member of the Hyuga Clan beside Naruto. His main purpose had been to probe the Hyuga Clan's movements and find out why they were approaching the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.

But Naruto's move had made Guy realize that something was wrong.

By all rights, Naruto Uzumaki, as the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, should have had no access to any Konoha Ninja who could teach him Ninjutsu. Even if he did, it should only have been a genin unaware of the truth, or perhaps an ordinary person.

Any contact a Ninja of chunin rank or higher made with him would surely be discovered by the Anbu. Under those circumstances, how could he possibly be allowed to wander around so freely?

As Guy had reasoned, if the village's Ninja could not approach Naruto Uzumaki, a tailed beast's jinchūriki, then who could have taught someone so young such an advanced Ninjutsu? The Hyuga Clan's presence had given him a very dangerous suspicion—

The village's prestigious clans had all kinds of experts whose abilities matched those of chunin and Jonin. Their connections were also vast. If they had colluded with the Anbu and established contact with the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki...

Thinking back to the Nine-Tails' Attack a few years earlier, suspicion of the Uchiha Clan had still never been cleared. Might Guy felt that he had uncovered an earth-shattering secret. If this was handled badly, the village would surely be plunged into a terrible catastrophe!

That was also why he had taken Naruto with him and shaken off even the Anbu.

At that moment, there was only one person in the entire village Guy could trust. What he had not realized was that, in a certain sense, his own actions were also extremely dangerous.

The Hokage Office.

"Guy kidnapped Naruto Uzumaki?" The Third Hokage, who was handling official business while struggling with the case of Shisui's disappearance, froze when he heard the Anbu's report. Then he instinctively asked, "That Might Guy?"

"Yes. He shouted that Naruto Uzumaki had an extremely powerful Body Flicker Technique, then grabbed him and disappeared. The Anbu are still pursuing them," the Anbu replied.

"An extremely powerful Body Flicker Technique? Naruto?" The Third Hokage was even more puzzled, but he soon replied, "Understood. Still, I know Guy. Naruto shouldn't be in any dan—"

"Sarutobi, I hear someone has kidnapped the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. This is not something you can handle however you please!" Two elderly members of Konoha High Command, a man and a woman, stormed into the Hokage Office as though demanding an explanation. "Deploy all the Anbu immediately to find the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, and bring that Might Guy back under arrest!"

"En, Koharu." The Third Hokage looked up at the pair. They were Konoha's advisers and, like him, had served in the Second Hokage's Guard unit in their youth. "You certainly are well informed. The Anbu only just notified me, and you're already here."

"Well..." Utatane Koharu was momentarily speechless. Of course, she could hardly admit that a member of Danzo's Root had told her. After all, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, had previously made it absolutely clear that Danzo and Root were forbidden from approaching the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki again.

"None of that matters. The crucial issue now is the Nine-Tails' whereabouts!" The other adviser, Mitokado Homura, seemed well prepared and maintained his forceful stance. "Konoha cannot endure another Nine-Tails' Attack. And given what happened with Shisui Uchiha, could the Uchiha have decided they can't wait any longer? We must send the Anbu to the Uchiha compound immediately!"

"This probably has nothing to do with the Uchiha Clan. I know what sort of person Might Guy is. He likely just got excited after seeing an impressive technique. Don't overreact!" Sarutobi snapped his head up. He had not expected them to dare bring up Shisui and the Uchiha under these circumstances. Weren't they just adding fuel to the fire?

"This is not an overreaction, Sarutobi! You still don't understand..." Deeply displeased by Sarutobi's attitude, Mitokado Homura was just about to stress how dangerous the current situation involving the Uchiha Clan and the Nine-Tails was.

Thud! A footstep rang out without any attempt at stealth. Almost simultaneously, Might Guy, dressed entirely in green, charged straight into the Hokage Office, shouting, "Lord Hokage, I have urgent intelligence..." "Huh?"

"Guy?" Hiruzen Sarutobi, wearing his Hokage robes, froze briefly at the sight of him. Then, seeing that he had come alone, his expression grew stern. "Where's Naruto?"
