Amegakure.
Two figures dressed in the Akatsuki's black robes patterned with red clouds walked along the street. Konan held an oil-paper umbrella over Pain, shielding him from the rain.
Just then, a child came running toward them.
The child held an umbrella, but he also carried another, patched umbrella in his hand.
His face beamed as though he had just done a good deed. He darted past Pain and Konan, then hid around the corner of an alley to watch.
"Even with the Rain Tiger at Will Technique stopped, the rain still keeps falling."
Pain murmured, then suddenly stopped and looked toward the place the child was watching.
Konan said nothing. She followed Pain's gaze, looking in the same direction.
It was a clothing shop, and a man dressed in shabby clothes stepped out of its entrance.
He cradled a newly purchased garment against his chest. It was too small for him to wear, probably a piece of children's clothing he had bought for his own child.
Once outside the shop, he put the shopkeeper's somewhat disdainful expression out of his mind. But after glancing around, the joy in his eyes suddenly gave way to panic.
His umbrella was gone...
"Take this."
As the man searched for the umbrella he should have left by the entrance, a blue-haired woman suddenly walked up to him and held something out.
An obviously expensive oil-paper umbrella was placed in his hands.
"This... who are you...?"
"We borrowed your umbrella. Let us trade you this one for it."
In Amegakure, the villagers called Konan an angel, loving and worshipping her. Yet this man seemed not to recognize her at all. He looked with mild confusion at the oil-paper umbrella, which was clearly far better than his own.
Perhaps he suspected a trick, but Konan
