At three in the morning, Dave was fast asleep at home...
Suddenly, his phone rang. Dave struggled out of bed and hurriedly silenced it. He glanced at Tsukimi, who was still sleeping beside him, and sighed in relief.
A call from Sakumo? Did something happen over there? Dave wondered as he stepped outside and answered.
"Teacher! Hurry! My wife's going into labor, and I'm not home!" Sakumo's anxious voice came through the phone.
"What?! All right, all right! Don't panic! I'll head over right now!" Dave's lingering drowsiness vanished instantly.
"My wife called the elders in the family, but every last one of them was sleeping like the dead. I had no choice but to call you," Sakumo explained while Dave was on his way.
"Haha, it's fine. Your teacher's here! You have nothing to worry about!" Dave reassured Sakumo as he drove.
"All right, Sakumo, I'm here. I'll hang up for now and call you back once we get to the hospital."
Dave arrived outside Sakumo's house and found the gate locked. With no other choice, he climbed over it.
Once inside, he heard cries of pain coming from one of the rooms.
A few minutes later, at the hospital...
"Sakumo, don't worry. Don't worry. Your wife's already in the delivery room," Dave reassured him.
Just then, a doctor came out of the delivery room, and Dave hurried over to ask about her condition.
"A premature birth." The doctor sighed...
At those words, both Dave and Sakumo on the other end of the phone fell silent...
"Save the mother," Sakumo said, his heart twisting in agony.
Dave said nothing, turning over possible ways to save them in his mind.
"What do you mean, save the mother? Mother and child are both safe," the doctor said, puzzled.
