That day, the villagers of Konoha stood along the village's main street, gazing excitedly at the Hokage Building.
"Konoha is the Village of Fire, forever renewing itself like a flame. Wherever there is fire, there will be a Hokage, kindling it in our hearts. Wherever leaves dance, fire will burn. The fire's shadow will shine upon the village and allow new leaves to sprout," Danzo said slowly, looking down at the villagers with deep emotion.
"Orochimaru." Danzo then turned toward Orochimaru behind him.
Orochimaru nodded and stepped in front of Danzo, dressed in the Hokage Robe.
Danzo took off his Hokage Hat, and Orochimaru put on the hat that marked him as the Fourth Hokage.
"YEAH!!"
The villagers below clapped happily.
The Hokage's handover ceremony was complete.
With a new Hokage taking office, the previous administration's other officials would also change.
Kagami stepped down as director of the Konoha Military Police Force and handed the position to Fugaku. Hiruzen likewise handed his position as ANBU director to Sakumo. Koharu and Homura also stepped down as Hokage Assistants, passing their roles to Tsunade and Jiraiya.
As soon as Orochimaru took office, he announced a host of new policies that threw the village into chaos over the next few days.
That afternoon
"Well? Here we are, retired at last." The Konoha Four Rogues had gathered together for once.
"Ah, with all that responsibility suddenly gone, I don't even know what to do anymore." Danzo sighed, feeling lost.
"Then just behave yourself and laze around at home. At least I won't have to hear you yammering every day." Dave took it in stride.
"Heh, Dave, haven't you pretty much been retired ever since you graduated from the Ninja Academy?" Kagami asked with a chuckle.
"Hiruzen, you'd better rein yourself in from now on.
