The Uchiha Police Station
"Oh, Hiruzen's back again." Seeing his old friend return to the cell beside his, Kagami greeted him with a chuckle and a teasing remark.
"..." Hiruzen felt utterly drained and didn't want to talk.
"What's wrong? Why do you look so miserable?" Kagami gripped the bars and asked with a chuckle as he took in Hiruzen's worried face.
"Same old problems." Hiruzen sighed and shook his head helplessly.
"Oh, just give up. That ANBU business of yours is never going to happen. How many years has it been since you stepped down? And you still want to go back as director? Never mind whether the Hokage agrees—Sakumo has to agree too," Kagami advised.
"But that's decades of my blood, sweat, and tears!" Hiruzen said, his heart aching.
"Heh, tell me about it, then. What exactly did you pour all that effort into? I don't believe the position of ANBU director alone could keep you obsessed for so many years." Kagami gave a few derisive chuckles and asked.
Kagami was no fool. Judging by his many years of friendship with Hiruzen, Hiruzen Sarutobi might have been somewhat attached to power and status, but never to the point of fighting Sakumo for his position while the man was still in his prime.
"If I tell you, will you help me?" Hiruzen paused. How had he forgotten about Kagami and the others? He might not have much power alone, but there was strength in numbers!
"That depends on what you have to say. Can you tempt me?"
A short while later...
"Once we pull this off, I want half your collection!" Kagami Uchiha was so excited that his Sharingan activated, making Hiruzen back away repeatedly.
