After master and disciple patched things up, Mu took Ōnoki to a restaurant for a good meal and a chat.
"Master, isn't this place going to be expensive?" Ōnoki swallowed as he looked around the unfamiliar restaurant, then turned to his master.
"Relax, Ōnoki. If your master takes you out to eat, don't worry about money." Mu calmly settled into his seat, helped himself to the tea beside him, and poured a cup to drink.
"Oh, oh! Master, this place must cost a fortune, right?" Ōnoki asked happily as he surveyed the lavish decor with curiosity.
"Heh. Your master does have a reputation to maintain. If I'm treating you to a meal, would I take you somewhere shabby?" Mu said calmly.
Then Mu took a menu off the wall beside him and handed it to Ōnoki.
"Take your time. Order whatever you want," Mu said calmly, radiating a faint air of smug superiority.
Ōnoki swallowed, looked at the menu in his hands and the luxurious furnishings around him, then watched his master occasionally unwrap the bandage on his middle finger to reveal a faint golden glint. He realized there was more to this than met the eye.
His master really seemed to have struck it rich.
With that in mind, Ōnoki beamed as he began ordering. If his master was successful, that reflected well on him as his disciple, too.
