Whether it was Ning Caichen or Xu Xian, they had faced either a demon or a ghost.

But when it came to a wet-preserved corpse...

Lin Feng absolutely could not bring himself to kiss her.

No matter how perfectly she had been preserved, Lin Feng wanted nothing to do with her.

Especially since this was a being the Shangqing Maoshan Order had pacified.

He rushed through the doors. As they closed, Lin Feng saw ghost writing covering them.

Ghost script was everywhere. When Lin Feng had climbed the mountain, the doors had stood wide open. Now that they were shut, he discovered densely packed writing across their surfaces, formed from dark brown blood.

On closer inspection, all these characters were in the same script as the Fengdu Ghost-Cursing Sutra. A single glance stung his eyes unbearably.

It made tears stream down his face.

Fortunately, Lin Feng had formed his Yin God. Looking at this merely made him weep; it did not injure his soul.

He knew there were all manner of Runes in this world.

Even within Daoism alone, there were many varieties of Runes.

These included, but were not limited to, ghost script, which was one of the Eight Manifestations.

The Eight Manifestations were eight forms in which Runes appeared.

One was called Heavenly Script, the Eight Convergences—the sun, moon, and stars, along with the Five Elements.

One was called Divine Script, or Cloud Seal Script.

One was called Earth Script, the Dragon-Phoenix Signs.

One was called Inner Script, what tortoises, dragons, fish, and Bird spat forth, embodying the principles of nature.

One was called Outer Script, what scales, shells, fur, and feathers bore.

One was called Ghost Script, an obscure mixture of forms beyond human understanding.

One was called Central Xia Script, cursive artistry and Cloud Seal Script.
