Ordinarily, the Ninja Academy imposed no dress requirements on its students, but everyone had to wear the school's standard uniform for the graduation ceremony, supposedly to preserve its solemnity and sanctity. The uniforms expressed the spirit embodied in the name Konoha, combining traditional clothing with the fashions of the new era. They looked rather similar to the modern clothing of Kazemori Masaki's previous life.

Mitokado Homura delivered the speech at the graduation ceremony. The role should have fallen to Kazemori Masaki, but with him away from the village, Homura had to step in. He followed every prescribed step of the ceremony to the letter. Masaki had established all these procedures years ago, but compared with him, Homura carried them out with little enthusiasm.

Even so, when the graduating genin sang the academy's anthem, "New Leaves," everyone felt a surge of excitement. Kazemori Masaki had commissioned the finest master musician he could find to compose the anthem around the spirit he wanted to convey, and it had gone through numerous revisions before he approved it. Judging by its subsequent reception, it had done an excellent job of inspiring these future pillars of the village.
