Kagami Uchiha had always known that his clan was full of contradictions. They loved those they held dear, and could even awaken the power of their kekkei genkai through the loss of that love. Yet the arrogance and extremism in their nature could also drive them to recklessly abandon other bonds they ought to cherish.
Every member of the Uchiha Clan valued only the people they loved. If they lost that love, they would turn a blind eye to any other bonds before them. Even if they yearned for those connections deep down, they would still choose a solitary path. This had played out countless times throughout the Uchiha Clan's history.
The most recent example was Kagami Uchiha's uncle, Madara Uchiha. He had shared a precious friendship with the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, and had once been willing to make peace. But after his younger brother Izuna died, Madara had chosen to oppose Hashirama Senju again. Though he had later been moved to reconcile once more, he had ultimately parted ways with him.
Even now, Kagami Uchiha did not know why Uncle Madara had chosen to abandon that friendship. Among the Hawk Faction, the rumor was that his teacher, Tobirama, had sidelined Uncle Madara and left him disillusioned. But Kagami did not believe that was the reason. Uncle Madara was not the sort of man to concede defeat over something like that. Such an explanation underestimated his generosity of spirit.
Though he did not know the precise reason, Kagami Uchiha could sense that it had to be the nature deeply rooted in his clan's blood at work. Throughout history, it seemed that no powerful Uchiha had ever enjoyed a happy, fulfilling family life. Almost all of them had ended up alone.
In this new era, Kagami Uchiha believed that such
