The wives of the two village leaders had gotten along well during the visit, and there were subjects between women that neither leader could join in on. Though some unresolved issues remained from the past, so many years had passed that neither woman dwelled on them much anymore.

"If you'd like, we can write to each other from now on," Satomi said with a smile.

"Yes, whenever we have the time." Deep down, Sora also wanted to exchange more letters and get to know her better, but given the relationship between their villages, that was not something one person could decide alone. She looked at Satomi and sighed softly. "I really envy you, meeting Kazemori Masaki."

"It was my good fortune. As for anyone else, all I can say is that our paths crossed, but we weren't meant to be," Satomi said.
