After the Konoha group returned to the Lord's residence, they found Tobi directing everyone as they worked to stabilize the situation following the Lord's unexpected death. He appeared calm, but they could faintly smell blood on him. Inuzuka Shigeru was certain of it.

Still, none of them had expected Tobi to return so quickly. Either he had been here all along, or he had some means of moving at great speed.

"Where did you go? Why didn't you follow us when we all went after them?" Mizuki strode forward and demanded, her expression hostile.

"You all went after them. What if the enemy attacked the Town?" Tobi answered calmly. "And that was exactly what happened. If I hadn't intervened, the Town might have suffered much heavier losses."

"What enemy? Why didn't I sense them?" Asuna asked.

"On the western side of the Town, directly opposite your position." Tobi glanced at Asuna, his voice perfectly calm. It betrayed not the slightest fluctuation despite the fact that the woman before him had wounded him.

Asuna fell silent for a moment. She was not a specialist sensory ninja; the range and acuity of her Sensory Ability came from Sage Mode. The location Tobi had mentioned was beyond her sensory range.

If Tobi really was the person who had just attacked her, that meant he had worked out her sensory range during their fight. If so, then despite having been completely overpowered by her, he did have some formidable strengths.

In truth, Tobi was not entirely sure how far Asuna's senses reached. He had only a vague idea, based on her performance in battle and the safety he had found after withdrawing from the battlefield. He had taken a gamble with that statement.
