Bai He raised his hand and flicked Mo Yu on the forehead. "The two of us are known as the Black and White Fiends of Prince Jing's Residence, first because of our names, and second because we're always together.
"We're always together, so wouldn't you know everything I've done?"
Mo Yu thought back over the people around them all these years. Apart from their master, neither of them had anyone close to them.
"If there wasn't anyone, just say so! Why did you have to flick me? I think I've gotten this stupid because you keep hitting my head. You have to take responsibility!"
Bai He would have loved nothing more than to take responsibility for him for the rest of his life. Hearing that, he seized his chance.
"I will. Of course I will. For the rest of my life."
The next morning, after Shen Shixu and Xiao Jinyi got up, they soon noticed that something was different about the way those two interacted.
At breakfast, Mo Yu wanted an egg but did not peel it himself. Instead, he ordered Bai He to do it for him, and Bai He indulgently obliged.
Shen Shixu and Xiao Jinyi exchanged a glance, each seeing deep bewilderment in the other's eyes. Xiao Jinyi put down his chopsticks and asked, "What happened between you two? You seem different from before."
Too embarrassed to answer, Mo Yu gave Bai He a look, signaling for him to explain.
Bai He's smile was so radiant that it almost reached his ears. "Master, my lord, Mo Yu and I are together!"
Xiao Jinyi and Shen Shixu were surprised. They had noticed long ago that Bai He treated Mo Yu differently and knew that Bai He liked him, but Mo Yu had yet to catch on.
