Sharing a pillow

Xiao Jinyi got his wish and followed Shen Shixu back to the Shen Residence, though no one but Shen Shixu knew he was there.

After arriving, he stayed in Shen Shixu's room, where he ate, drank, and even relieved himself. That was all manageable, but when it came to sleeping at night, neither of them quite knew what to do.

Shen Shixu's room had only one bed and one daybed.

Shen Shixu usually liked to recline on the daybed for a short afternoon nap, but spending an entire night on it would probably leave him aching all over the next morning.

The bed, on the other hand, was fairly large, with enough room for two men.

Afraid Shen Shixu would feel uncomfortable sharing a bed with him, Xiao Jinyi volunteered to sleep on the daybed. He had barely taken two steps when a hand caught his wrist.

"The daybed is so small. With your build, you'll definitely feel awful after spending a whole night on it." The invitation to share his bed hovered on Shen Shixu's lips for a while before he finally said it.

"If you don't mind, why don't we squeeze in together? The bed is big enough for both of us."

How could Xiao Jinyi possibly mind? He could think of nothing he wanted more. After washing up, the two lay side by side on the bed in their thin inner robes.

Shen Shixu folded his hands over his abdomen and stared at the gauze canopy overhead, not daring to spare even a sidelong glance at Xiao Jinyi beside him.

Xiao Jinyi wanted to look at Shen Shixu, but knowing how embarrassed he was, he copied his posture and gazed up at the canopy as well.
