Torrential rain lashed the pitch-black vehicles. Investigators in raincoats stood like statues outside the school walls, holding an assortment of weapons.
Static crackled inside the vehicles, and enormous searchlights turned the rainy night into day.
Everyone stood in the shadows cast by the lights. They had already received orders from above.
The walls of Hande Private Academy had collapsed, but layers of roadblocks and metal fences had been installed outside in advance.
These defenses were useless against anomaly events and could not stop ghosts. They were there to stop the anomalous citizens.
Light shone into Hande Private Academy, stirring excitement in all the students trapped inside the Rules Ghost School. They waved their hands wildly and raced toward what they believed was their way out.
"An exit! Wang Jie, we can go home!" Holding the child's arm, Xishan jumped for joy. "We finally survived the disaster!"
"Cut the fucking bullshit! Hide! Find a vehicle!" Wang Jie slapped him, his expression even more tense than before. "Hurry!"
"Why do we still need a vehicle?"
Before Xishan could finish, gunfire rang out in the rainy night. The students at the front fell, confusion appearing in their eyes, which were dominated by phobia.
The gunfire also frightened Xishan, who was holding the child's corpse. He looked at the exclusion zone marked out between the Investigation Bureau and the school. The light shone from that direction, but it was not there to guide them. It was there to get a clear look at the monsters.
From the moment they entered Hande Private Academy, they were no longer ordinary citizens. They were anomalous individuals who might have been replaced by ghost creatures from the shadow world.
