"How do you survive in a city filled with strange tales and ghost creatures?" The elderly instructor stood in the middle of the conference room, a projected map of the East District behind him.
"Fight! Charge ahead without fear!" Xiao Yong clenched his fists, and the other rookie Investigators agreed with his answer.
"By following the rules!" The old instructor slammed the thick rulebook in his hand onto Xiao Yong's desk. "I'm giving you three hours. Every one of you must memorize all the strange tale rules!"
"All this?" Xiao Yong grimaced. "I didn't have to memorize this much even in school."
"Get on your feet!" The old instructor glared sternly at Xiao Yong. "Every rule you see here was paid for with another Investigator's life! You can survive by memorizing these rules because someone gave their life to discover them for you!"
That thick rulebook was, in truth, soaked in the blood of Investigators.
"Your first lesson here is to learn to respect the rules and fear them!" The old instructor's harsh tone frightened all the rookies. "If you don't want to die in a strange tale, memorize these until they become instinct!"
