As panic filled his heart, footsteps suddenly sounded in the corridor. Someone stopped outside the door and began tearing off the talismans stuck to it.
Hearing someone outside, Gao Ming, his body covered in blessings, slammed into the door even harder.
The talismans seemed to affect Gao Ming more than the chains did. As the paper talismans outside were torn away, the lock rattled, and the old door began to loosen.
Perhaps they were on the same wavelength, or perhaps the person outside simply made a mistake, but he actually shoved the crowbar through the gap in the door.
Gao Ming snatched the rusty crowbar and glanced back. The door to Grandma's bedroom had opened, and the corpse dressed in bright red seemed to have left its chair.
The red cords strung across the ceiling swayed back and forth, their bells knocking together. Gao Ming sucked in a cold breath and caught a pungent stench. Turning his head, he saw Grandma's swollen, purplish face appear in the bedroom doorway.
The bells rang frantically. Wet slapping sounds came from the white rice, as though something were racing toward him on all fours!
There was no time to hesitate. Gao Ming wedged the crowbar into the lock. With a bang, the door finally flew open.
Without wasting a second, Gao Ming charged out of the room, crowbar in hand and writing covering his body, only to collide head-on with someone else standing at the doorway.
"Shut the door first!"
Once the door was closed, Gao Ming jammed the crowbar across the handle before finally raising his head.
Two identical faces stared at each other. Each saw himself reflected in the other's eyes.
"Gao Ming?"
"Run!"
Picking up the backpack, the Gao Ming covered in writing hauled Expelled Gao Ming to his feet.
