The returning Fate Dart struck Gao Ming square between the brows. His expression turned strange. He had heard a similar sound in reality before; that bedroom was where he had tied up his fathers and mothers.
As the strange noise rang out, Gao Ming's father and mother also looked uneasy. The older couple kept eating, pretending to be calm, but under the table, his mother stepped on his father's foot, signaling for him to say something.
That single sound caused subtle shifts in all three of their expressions, as though they had planned it beforehand.
Like parents, like son. Watching all this, the female ghost silently put down the meat she had just picked up. Now she seemed like the normal one.
"May I take a look in the bedroom?" Gao Ming did not act immediately, instead politely asking his father and mother for permission.
"Just rest. You must be tired after running around all day. I'll handle it." The middle-aged man stood up at once, while his mother took the opportunity to put more food on Gao Ming's plate.
Between them, this family had enough ulterior motives for eight hundred people, constantly probing one another. Only the female ghost gazed at the meat in her bowl, thinking how warm Gao Ming's home was and what a lovely family they were.
"Things haven't been peaceful lately. There have been a lot more rats in the neighborhood, too. I suspect something got into the bedroom." The middle-aged man laid the groundwork before opening the bedroom door a crack.
It would have been better if he had left it shut. The creak of the hinges seemed to provoke whatever was inside, and the strange noise abruptly grew louder.
Bang!
A hideous ghostly face broke free of its restraints and slammed into the
