Neither the driver, Wei Tian, nor Teacher Li had any sense of danger. These people seemed to have been protected far too well.
Jingtuo God and Gao Ming remained on high alert, trying to find flaws in the outsiders. Unfortunately, the people before them were like a flock of pure white lambs. Nothing about them had any connection to ghosts, and they did not even have any knowledge of strange tales.
To them, this terrifying black fog seemed to be nothing more than a natural phenomenon.
"You came in from outside Hanhai?"
"Yes."
"Then that means... outside the city of Hanhai is a world without ghosts? Only Hanhai has become a prison!" Jingtuo God's voice sounded rather frightening. Driver Wei scratched his head and gave him the sort of look reserved for idiots.
"It's too early to draw conclusions." Gao Ming committed every key detail in Wei Tian's words to memory. "Class Thirteen of Xinhu No. 1 High School, returning to Xinhu at night after an outing. Was the tunnel you passed through at the junction of Xinhu, Hanjiang, and Hanhai, cutting through Hate Mountain and taking you past Hate Mountain Prison?"
"That's right, that's the tunnel. There were quite a few accidents a few years back, but it's been much better lately." Wei Tian took out a pack of cigarettes. "Besides, I'm an experienced driver with over twenty years behind the wheel. I drive steadily."
Tearing open the packaging, Wei Tian offered Gao Ming and the others cigarettes. The gesture made Jingtuo God's brows knit tightly.
"Sorry to bother you, but what happened in this town? Why isn't there anyone around?"
None of the terrifying scenes they had anticipated appeared. Instead, they encountered a group of living people who claimed to have come from outside Hanhai. Judging by their
