They had picked up the aura of variables—the very thing the fate giant tree hated most.
Before the fate giant tree took control of the Endless Mortal Worlds, everyone had variables, and everyone could control their own destiny. Thus, anyone could become a dragon. Once the fate giant tree took root above all living beings, variables were completely locked away, leaving them without a single chance. Even being allowed to live as a human was an act of charity.
Variables were locked away here, which was why this place was called Dragon-Locking Village.
Just as the corpse of true fate took on a different outline in each person's eyes, so too did the variable bound at the center of the earth-vein chains. Gao Ming could not make out its full form. He could only see the countless bones beneath it. Those dead people had once been variables themselves.
