The vehicle bumped along the road, delivering them to their lodging.
The production team had arranged a two-story village house. Through the entrance was a large courtyard with a few chickens and ducks, and a yellow dog by the gate.
Village dogs were fiercely territorial. As soon as it saw people approaching, it bared its teeth, lowered its body, dug all four paws into the ground, and barked furiously at them.
The village chief walked over and gave the yellow dog a hefty slap. It instantly behaved itself, its eyes utterly innocent.
"Come on down, comrades."
Zheng Ye got out first, then held out a hand toward Ning Shile.
Apparently having learned his lesson last time, Zheng Ye only held his hand out as a precaution, without trying to help him down.
Ning Shile jumped nimbly out of the vehicle, then smiled at Zheng Ye. "Let's go inside."
Zheng Ye nodded and withdrew his hand.
The house had two floors in total. The second floor was reserved for the production crew, leaving only the first floor for the guests.
The entrance on the first floor led into a living room with a wooden table, a television, a refrigerator, and chairs.
There was a bedroom on either side of the living room, each with a communal bed that could sleep three people.
