After dinner, Ning Shile and the others divided up the chores, making a point of cleaning Sister Ting's house before they left.
When it was time to go, Tangqiu clung to Ning Shile's trouser leg and refused to let go, seemingly unwilling to let him leave.
Bai Qiongyu couldn't take his eyes off the kitten. He crouched down, quietly extended an index finger, and poked Tangqiu's head.
"Mrrrow—!" Tangqiu's fur bristled, and the kitten darted behind Ning Shile.
Despite Tangqiu's cold treatment, Bai Qiongyu kept gazing longingly at the kitten. Then he asked Ning Shile, "Lele, can we take Tangqiu back to play?"
Ning Shile was quite fond of Tangqiu too, so he turned to Sister Ting. "Sis, can we take Tangqiu back for the night?"
"Of course," Sister Ting answered with a smile. "If Tangqiu's willing, go ahead."
Ning Shile nodded and bent down with a bright smile to scoop Tangqiu into his arms. "Okay~ I'll bring the kitten back tomorrow."
"Sure. Take the cat bed too." Sister Ting brought out the cat bed and handed it to Ning Shile.
Ning Shile reached out to take it.
Tangqiu looked only three or four months old, with gray-blue fur all over and a round little head. When the kitten looked up at someone, those eyes were round and bright.
Once they got back, Bai Qiongyu busied himself setting up Tangqiu's bed and providing food, but the kitten still completely ignored him, remaining utterly aloof.
Bai Qiongyu didn't mind at all. He brought over some warm water and set it on the floor. "Here you go, Brother Tang. Have a drink."
Tangqiu flicked those little ears and sniffed the bowl. In a rare show of friendliness, the kitten gave Bai Qiongyu a "Meow~"
Bai Qiongyu was so excited he almost cried.
