Mo Chengzhou took out his phone, wanting to call Yan Wen but afraid of spoiling his fun. After some thought, he slipped it back into his pocket.
Someday, he would rent out a scenic lake where he and Yan Wen could go on a date, just the two of them.
Mo Chengzhou turned and headed back. Tang Yun asked curiously, "Uncle, why are you going back?"
"They'll be cold when they get out of the water," Mo Chengzhou said. "I'm going to make some ginger soup so they can warm up when they come back. Come help me."
Tang Yun jogged after him. "Sure. Should we add some sugar? A Yan doesn't like ginger soup. A little sugar should make it better."
"I'll ask Mrs. Li to teach us."
Tang Yun marveled inwardly. The saying that love made people unlike themselves really was true. His uncle, who never set foot in the kitchen, had actually started learning to make ginger soup.
If he was already learning to make ginger soup, could learning to cook be far behind?
With a splash, someone surfaced amid the rippling water. Yan Wen held up a piece of lotus root half an arm's length long in one hand and wiped the water off his face with the other.
"I found another one!" Yan Wen tossed the lotus root onto the boat. "I'm done digging. I'm going down to catch fish!"
Mu Xu Xi was in the lake too, having the time of her life. "That sounds fun. I want to catch some too!"
On the boat, Mu Xu Ci washed the lotus roots they had dug up, arranged them neatly, and counted them. There were seven in total: three large and four small, with two three-segment roots, three four-segment roots, and two two-segment roots.
