The new students soon settled into their classes and began their lessons. As expected, Yan Wen and Tang Yun were assigned to Class One, while Mu Huai'an was in Class Five.
With everyone immersed in their studies, the end of the month soon arrived.
A line of luxury cars waited outside the school gates, belonging to parents picking up their children or chauffeurs collecting their young masters and misses.
A minivan stopped in front of the three of them. Mu Xingfeng rolled down the window. "Xiao Wen, Xiao An, hop in!"
Tang Yun greeted him with a confident, easy smile. "Hello, Uncle Mu. I'm Tang Yun."
"Yunshu told me Xiao Wen had made a very good friend. Have fun with him these next two days, and if you need money, just let one of us adults know."
"Okay, Uncle!"
Noticing that Mu Huai'an seemed down, Mu Xingfeng asked, "What's wrong, Xiao An?"
Mu Huai'an forced a smile. "Dad, I'm fine."
Yan Wen had just opened the front door when a blast from a party popper startled him.
Xie Yunshu and Mu Xu Xi stood on either side. "Welcome home!"
Streamers covered their heads. In the hall, bodyguards and servants stood in two rows, holding trays laden with watches, ties, cufflinks, and other items.
Xie Yunshu took Yan Wen and Mu Huai'an by the hands. "Mom prepared some gifts for you. Come pick what you like. If nothing catches your eye, I'll have them send over some more."
Yan Wen chose a watch. "This one. I can use it to tell the time."
Mu Huai'an chose two items. Seeing that there was still a pile left, Xie Yunshu took matters into her own hands and divided everything between the two boys, giving one to each in turn.
Mrs. Wu came over. "Madam, dinner is ready."
Mu Xu Xi casually tossed the trash into the bin. "Time to eat!"
Yan Wen was just about to ask Xiao Qi when Mu Xu Ye would appear when two men walked in through the front door.
One was Mu Xu Ci. The other wore a black suit and had a well-toned physique, slicked-back hair, handsome features, sharp brows, and bright eyes.
Xiao Qi said excitedly, "Host! Mu Xu Ye is here!"
Yan Wen stopped eating and carefully studied the man approaching the dining table.
"His legs are so long. He's so tall! I wish I were that tall."
"Mu Xu Ye is the tallest in the Mu Family, at 190 centimeters barefoot. Host, you're not short either. You're only half a centimeter away from 180."
"You're talking too much."
Mu Xu Ye greeted everyone without expression. "Dad, Mom, little sister, Xiao An."
Rather than continue his greetings, Mu Xu Ye turned his deep, unreadable gaze on Yan Wen.
The corners of Yan Wen's mouth lifted slightly. "Sure enough, this one's not easy to get along with either."
The two remained at an impasse for a while before Mu Xu Ye gave a derisive chuckle. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
Yan Wen shot back without backing down. "Shouldn't you introduce yourself first before asking someone else's name?"
"You really are just as Mom and Dad described. I'm Mu Xu Ye, your Eldest Brother."
"Oh, got it. Yan Wen, the younger brother you found three months ago."
Xie Yunshu asked, "Xiao Ye, why did you come back so suddenly? Didn't you say you were too busy at the company to come home for a while?"
Mu Xu Ye smiled. "I didn't make it back for the reunion banquet, but I've finished the work I had on hand. I wanted to come see my biological younger brother and stay at home for a while."
After looking over each member of the Mu Family, Tang Yun whispered to Yan Wen, "Your whole family is so good-looking!"
Yan Wen nodded in agreement. Whatever else might be said about them, when it came to looks, the Mu Family had inherited only the best genes.
Any one of them could make their entertainment debut on looks alone.
Mu Xu Ye had inherited Mu Xingfeng's steady, imposing presence and effortless elegance. At times, he was even more stern and intimidating than Mu Xingfeng.
Mu Xu Ci and Mu Xu Xi took after Xie Yunshu more. In the terms of the novels Yan Wen had read, Mu Xu Ci was a cool, aloof beauty, especially with those alluring eyes.
Mu Xu Xi had a high nose bridge, large eyes with natural double eyelids, thin cherry-colored lips, and fair, smooth skin. Her almond-shaped eyes were clear and cool, and anyone could tell she was a wealthy young lady who had been well protected.
Curious, Yan Wen asked, "Xiao Qi, who do you think I look more like?"
Mu Xingfeng and Xie Yunshu both straightened up, each eagerly waiting to hear their own name.
Xiao Qi made a series of searching noises before answering earnestly, "Half of each, I'd say. Host, you perfectly inherited the gentlest features from both of them."
Xie Yunshu nodded in agreement. Her youngest son looked exactly like a good, well-behaved child, but he wasn't frail. He made people want to protect him without making them underestimate him.
Xiao Qi said, "Host, I've got some juicy gossip about Mu Xu Ye!"
Yan Wen's eyes lit up. "Tell me, tell me!"
Yan Wen didn't notice that, apart from Tang Yun and Mu Huai'an, everyone's expression had changed—even Mu Xu Ye's.
Yan Wen picked the bones out of his fish while listening to Xiao Qi's juicy gossip about his Eldest Brother.
"A man has his sights set on Mu Xu Ye."
"Holy shit!" Mu Xu Ci blurted out, then gave an awkward smile. "This soup is too hot."
Yan Wen clicked his tongue. "Let it cool before you drink it. It's not like anyone's fighting you for it. Xiao Qi, what do you mean, a man has his sights set on my Eldest Brother? Is it what I think it means?"
"Yes. In your terms, Mu Xu Ye is about to lose his innocence."
Mu Xu Xi couldn't hold back and spat out a mouthful of soup. Yan Wen swiftly shifted seats with a look of disgust, narrowly avoiding the spray.
"Third Sister, was your soup too hot too?"
"Huh? Oh! Yes, yes. I drank too quickly and choked."
Yan Wen felt helpless. "First one, then another. Can you please just let me enjoy the gossip?"
Although Mu Xu Ye's face remained expressionless, his hand tightened around his chopsticks.
Xiao Qi continued, "Mu Xu Ye has a friend he met in college. That friend has always been in love with him, but never dared to confess. Only after Mu Xu Ye went abroad to pursue his career did that classmate regret not telling him."
"Then what do you mean by losing his innocence? Is that classmate planning to force himself on him? It's hard to imagine my ice-faced Eldest Brother pinned underneath someone."
This time, Xie Yunshu choked.
Mu Xu Ye's expression grew darker and darker. Should he have stayed away? Then he wouldn't have had to suffer this humiliation in front of his whole family.
"No, no, no. He didn't force himself on him. Someone slipped Mu Xu Ye that kind of drug, and he was so dazed that he nearly fell victim to them. Luckily, that classmate happened to find him. He single-handedly fought off three men with bad intentions, then got your Eldest Brother safely out of there."
Yan Wen frowned in confusion. "Then how did he lose his innocence?"
Xiao Qi chuckled. "Mu Xu Ye was suffering badly from the drug. While he wasn't thinking clearly, he pinned his classmate down."
"Ohhh." It dawned on Yan Wen. "So after all that, my Eldest Brother was the one who made someone else lose his innocence! What happened to that classmate afterward?"
"He didn't know how Mu Xu Ye felt about him, and he was afraid Mu Xu Ye would be disgusted with him if he found out. So he kept what happened a secret for the rest of his life. Apart from him, nobody knew—not even Mu Xu Ye, the other person involved. In the end, that classmate died protecting Mu Xu Ye."
Yan Wen was almost moved to tears before he noticed that the Mu Family members' expressions were all rather strange.
Mu Xu Ye's expression could now be described as quite varied. He had received a little too much information over the course of this dinner and hadn't yet managed to process it all.
Yan Wen paid the Mu Family no mind and immersed himself in the pleasure of gossip again. "Xiao Qi, when will my Eldest Brother be drugged? What's that classmate's name? Do you have a photo?"
"Please wait, Host. Searching for information."
