History
Healer of Qingshan Town
Xiao Yi Xian treats wounded mercenaries at the Myriad Medicine Pavilion. She meets Xiao Yan while treating Old Zhou, whose Blue-Scaled Snake venom has been aggravated by an unsuitable application of blood-eroding vine. She correctly diagnoses the problem, while Xiao Yan supplies mature dew-condensing grass and rapidly extracts the medicinal liquid needed for her treatment. After Old Zhou awakens, she finishes bandaging him and keeps him under observation 29 30.
Their shared interest in medicine leads to an exchange of herbal knowledge. She teaches Xiao Yan to distinguish genuine blue-pattern root from a medicinally useless substitute and agrees to guide him into the mountains the next morning 30.
Discovery of the Treasure Cave
During their herb-gathering trip, Xiao Yi Xian agrees to help search for an old cultivation abode and share its contents. Her knowledge of the surrounding cliffs narrows their search, and her familiarity with mechanisms allows her to open the cave’s stone door without forcing it 31.
Inside, she obtains the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture, additional medicinal herbs, and most of the gold coins. She willingly leaves the two Dou Technique scrolls and an incomplete map to Xiao Yan. The pair preserve immature plants in the herb garden and bury the cave owner’s remains before leaving 32.
Wolf Head Mercenary Group Attack
Mu Li and his mercenaries invade the pavilion’s rear courtyard, injure an assistant, and demand the cave’s treasures. When Mu Li attempts to seize Xiao Yi Xian, Xiao Yan protects her and kills the attackers; he subsequently kills Mu She and dismantles the remaining Wolf Head leadership to prevent retaliation against her 33 34.
Xiao Yi Xian treats the injured attendant and accepts responsibility for using money recovered from the mercenaries’ compound to fund repairs and his medicine 34.
Travel and Further Study
Reading the Poison Scripture makes Xiao Yi Xian realize how many medicinal plants she has never encountered. With money and a trusted companion now available, she asks to accompany Xiao Yan to Stone Desert City. Before leaving, she prepares medicines and patient instructions, rechecks the injured attendant, and says farewell to her regular patients 34.
Her Blue Eagle, Xiao Lan, carries them to Stone Desert City, where she meets Xiao Ding and Xiao Li. She later agrees to travel with their caravan to Wutan City, accepting Xiao Yan’s offer of a quiet place to study at the family medicine shop. She negotiates access to herbs and separate payment for any work she undertakes 35 37.
Appearance
Xiao Yi Xian is a young woman with delicate, lovely features 30.
- Clothing: Pale white dress with a light green sash around her waist 30.
- Gathering gear: Herb basket on her back and a small leather pouch at her waist during mountain excursions 31.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian remains composed during medical emergencies: although she speaks quickly while treating Old Zhou, her hands stay steady. Her concern continues after the immediate danger passes, as shown by her observation instructions and repeated checks on the injured pavilion attendant 30 34.
She is curious and eager to learn, but initially questions whether studying poison is morally wrong. Xiao Yan’s explanation that poison knowledge can support treatment and self-defense reassures her. Her desire to identify unfamiliar plants ultimately motivates her departure from Qingshan Town 32 34.
With Xiao Yan, she is playful without being passive. She teases his habit of gathering herbs, insists on a fair treasure-sharing agreement, and negotiates practical terms for her stay at the Xiao Clan’s shop 31 35 37.
