Golduck's gaze grew solemn. Even with a type advantage, it dared not let its guard down against the Legendary Pokémon Moltres. At Du Ling's command, it generated water elemental power, forming massive waves that crashed toward Moltres.
Moltres had no time to dodge the waves and took a direct hit. However, Sunny Day had greatly reduced the power of Surf.
Although Moltres suffered considerable injuries, its HP remained relatively healthy. Golduck would not be able to defeat it quickly.

Zhang Cheng put the second stage of his strategy into action. Reducing the power of Water-type moves was not his only reason for having Moltres use Sunny Day first.
