"Shaymin, let's strike first! Use Leech Seed!"

Since Shaymin had the type advantage, Zhang Cheng was in no hurry to have it attack with a powerful move. Instead, he chose to plant a Leech Seed on its opponent first.

With Leech Seed in place, the opposing Tapu Fini would gain nothing even if it tried to trade damage.

Shaymin nodded obediently, formed a Leech Seed from Grass-type energy, and tossed it onto Tapu Fini.

The Leech Seed stuck to Tapu Fini. Vines soon covered its entire body, and its HP began to drain slowly into its opponent.

"Tapu Fini, we'll attack with a Fairy-type move! Use Moonblast!"

Bai Yuling made flexible use of type matchups, having Tapu Fini attack Shaymin with a Fairy-type move so its damage would not be reduced.

That was the benefit of dual-type Pokémon. As long as both types were not weak to the same type, they could complement each other, providing a great advantage in battle.

A single-type Pokémon, on the other hand, would be in serious trouble if it faced a type that countered its own. Not only would the opponent's moves deal more damage, but its own moves would struggle to hurt the opponent, leaving it at a severe disadvantage.

Following Bai Yuling's command, Tapu Fini leaped into the air and drew in Fairy-type energy, forming a Moonblast that hurtled toward Shaymin.

The mysterious, powerful Moonblast struck Shaymin's back. Fortunately, Shaymin's Special Defense was decent, and Leech Seed was restoring its HP.

In the end, after taking that Moonblast head-on, it had lost only a quarter of its HP.

Moonblast was one of the very best Fairy-type moves, yet it had only taken away a quarter of Shaymin's HP.

Of course, that was partly because Tapu Fini's Special Attack was not particularly high.
