Ch. 1The Unusual Child
Plot points and events
- Blood-red lightning strikes the Far North, destroying an ice mountain and frightening the local soul beasts.
- The Snow Empress arrives and finds a human infant at the center of the strange power. The child’s aura draws in Heaven and Earth Origin Force and inspires an instinctive urge to submit, though it does not threaten her.
- The Snow Empress suspects the infant may be an Auspicious Beast—or something similarly blessed by heaven and earth. When the Ice Empress touches him, she too feels her cultivation accelerate.
- Seeing the infant as both extraordinary and lovable, the two rulers decide to adopt him. The Snow Empress names him Tian Chen.
- Tian Chen wakes with gold-and-red eyes but immediately cries from hunger. The Snow Empress has a recently nursing Ice Wolf feed him, after which he falls asleep.
- The Snow Empress and Ice Empress take him to their ice palace, where they watch over him affectionately and promise to raise him happily.
Character developments and interactions
- The usually aloof Snow Empress quickly becomes tender and protective toward Tian Chen, insisting on holding him and growing attached to him almost at once.
- The Ice Empress is curious and affectionate too. She recognizes that Tian Chen’s unusual influence may offer hope as she and the Snow Empress face their approaching tribulations.
- The two rulers share the discovery and care of the child, though they lightly bicker over who gets to hold him. Their concern becomes practical when they realize he is hungry.
