Ch. 41Breaking through eight levels in a row
Key plot points and events
- Tian Chen completes the creation and absorption of his fourth Soul Ring inside a protective barrier. By pushing himself to the brink, he transforms it into a red, roughly 170,000-year ring—an extraordinary achievement for someone at his level.
- The fusion is agonizing: violent energy tears through his body, leaving him bloodied and nearly spent. He survives, however, and his Soul Power surges to the peak of level 48, gaining eight levels at once. The leap comes from releasing power he had previously suppressed, combined with energy from his Heavenly Phoenix Wings—not from the self-created ring itself.
- The ring grants him two skills: Blood Prison Flame Sea, which restrains enemies and drains their Soul Power, and Blood-Burning: Evil Flame Phoenix Slash, a powerful, tracking phoenix-shaped attack that burns its target with inextinguishable evil fire but risks harming Tian Chen’s vitality.
- After estimating that he may eventually create an even older ring, Tian Chen checks himself against the danger of rushing ahead. He takes the Yin-Yang Profound Dragon Pill and begins consolidating his Soul Power.
- In class, Tang Ya is distracted and reprimanded by her teacher. Jiang Nannan teases her about being in love; Tang Ya denies that her feelings concern Bei Bei, whom she regards only as her master and disciple.
- Jiang Nannan warns that someone else might win over the person Tang Ya likes. Tang Ya worries that she is not worthy of him and realizes she may have feelings for Tian Chen. Without noticing, she draws his portrait and wonders whether she is in love.
Character developments and interactions
- Tian Chen shows extreme resolve and endurance, accepting near-fatal pain to fulfill a promise to his two older sisters. His breakthrough gives him formidable new abilities, but he also recognizes the need to stabilize rather than chase power recklessly.
- Tang Ya shifts from unconscious longing to questioning her own feelings for Tian Chen. Her insecurity about her appearance and cultivation talent makes her doubt whether she could deserve him.
- Jiang Nannan acts as Tang Ya’s perceptive, playful confidante. She spots Tang Ya’s distraction, teases her about romance, and encourages her to speak up.
- Tang Ya and her teacher have a brief classroom exchange: she apologizes for losing focus and is told to pay attention. Her conversation with Jiang Nannan then draws out the romantic thoughts she had been suppressing.
