Beside Venerable Five Obscenities stood his second junior brother, Gu Ying, a tall man with black eyes, a lion-like nose, and a broad mouth. He wore a cloak of animal fur and bird feathers, a cloud collar of five-colored plumage draped over his shoulders, and an ancient bronze ring around his neck.
Dharma King Xuanyuan had attained the Dao a thousand years ago and belonged to the same generation as Elder Longbrow and Perfected Bliss. He had originally followed his master in occupying the Western Sea, before they sought to establish themselves in the Central Land.
The Three Elders of Emei—Perfected Taiyuan, Chusanzi, and Master Lianshan—had enlisted Yixiu's master and his martial uncle, Iron Drum Immortal Zhou Meng, to stage an elaborate performance at Turtle-Fishing Rock in the Eastern Sea.
They deliberately pretended to have become bitter enemies and fought over the sea. One side wielded the Supreme Purity Mystic Gate Formless Sword Qi, the other the greater and lesser innate and acquired five elements true qi. They were evenly matched.
Dharma King Xuanyuan and his master took it for real and came to launch a sneak attack, only for both sides to suddenly join forces against them. They gravely wounded the old demon on the spot and killed all of Dharma King Xuanyuan's junior brothers.
Master and disciple fled back to the Western Sea in disgrace. Only after Perfected Taiyuan, Chusanzi, and the others had ascended, when Master Lianshan faced his Final Kalpa and Dharma King Xuanyuan had perfected his divine arts, did he return to launch another sneak attack. Master Lianshan ultimately died, his Dao destroyed, and Dharma King Xuanyuan had played a major part in it.
Dharma King Xuanyuan established his sect in the Central Land and accepted many disciples, but only seven received his true inheritance.
