Once the hexagram changes, it becomes 'fellowship with men in the clan'—this is a variable. The Great Dao itself has no fixed laws. Humans observe Heaven, perceive the Heavenly Dao, and use it to establish the human way. In truth, the Heavenly Dao is merely one manifestation of the Great Dao. The Dao gives rise to myriad ways, while humans establish myriad calculations. A way is not the Dao, nor is a calculation the Dao; humans merely use calculations to seek the Dao."

Humans perceive the Dao and follow it, then impose the name 'fixed destiny' upon it. I know little of Buddhist teachings. They spoke of causes and conditions bearing fruit, and of there being no fruit without conditions, as well as preliminary recompense and final retribution.
