Ch. 641Guided by the Blood Lotus
Key plot points and events
- Shi Sheng attacks Master Youtan with Purple-Green Divine Thunder to distract the Emei cultivators while Lin Han secures the Mystic-Demon Shuttle. Both sides restrain their attacks to avoid devastating the populated Central Land.
- Underground, Yi Ding and Yi Zhen accidentally crash the shuttle into Stone God Princess and Red Lotus Old Demon. Their defenses fail against the demons’ magic, and the brothers are possessed and captured.
- Stone God Princess takes the brothers as attendants, declaring they must serve beneath her throne for six sixty-year cycles. Li Yingqiong arrives too late to stop their escape and vows to pursue them to Western Kunlun.
- In the sky, Lin Han severs the shuttle’s connection to the stars, carries it beyond the astral winds, and draws its Grand Void Fiendfire back inside. He uses a demonic ritual but avoids its intended fatal cost by relying on his pure-yang Yang Spirit, offering the heavenly demons only a few hairs and drops of blood. He then cuts off their connection, angering them.
- Lin Han retrieves the still-dangerous shuttle and leaves with Shi Sheng. The Emei cultivators do not pursue them.
- After the battle, the survivors reckon with the losses: Jiupan Po’s cult has been wiped out, while most of Yi Zhou’s family has been killed or captured. Only Yi Zhou and his wife remain.
Character developments and interactions
- Lin Han shows resourcefulness and resolve, completing his mission without sacrificing himself, despite the ritual’s intended cost. He openly challenges the Emei side to continue the fight elsewhere.
- Shi Sheng acts as Lin Han’s protector and diversion, confronting Master Youtan and helping secure the shuttle.
- Yi Ding and Yi Zhen, outraged that Shi Sheng attacked their revered great-uncle, rush into danger and are captured through their own ill-judged assault.
- Stone God Princess calmly turns the brothers into servants rather than killing them, while Red Lotus Old Demon favors killing and refining them into Blood Gods.
- Li Yingqiong is determined to rescue both the Yi brothers and the other captives, treating them as fellow Emei disciples as well as family.
- Yi Zhou collapses into grief as his dream of ascending with his whole family is destroyed. Master Youtan and the others gather around him and discuss the missing and dead.
Significant themes
- Devotion and loss: Yi Zhou’s grief underscores the cost of the conflict and the collapse of his family’s shared hopes.
- Duty and loyalty: Lin Han and Shi Sheng pursue their mission, while Li Yingqiong commits the Emei Sect to rescuing their captured companions.
- Cunning versus power: Lin Han survives a dangerous demonic rite through preparation and spiritual cultivation; the Yi brothers’ confidence in their shuttle proves inadequate against true demonic magic.
- The consequences of revenge and conflict: The battle leaves entire groups destroyed and families shattered, setting up a broader confrontation in Western Kunlun.
