The Rising Sun Sect was a thousand-year-old, top-tier Daoist lineage in Fengyang Commandery, and had once produced a great Spirit Refining cultivator.
Xuanming had not known this before. Only after asking the Flood Dragon did he learn that the Rising Sun Sect's founder had been a direct disciple of the great Spirit Refining Dao Lord who sacrificed himself to grievously wound the Azure Dragon.
This great Dao Lord was named Chaomu, and he had another direct disciple, the founder of Water Moon Abbey. Back then, Rising Sun and Water Moon had yet to advance to Spirit Refining and had only glimpsed its threshold. They could offer little help in the dragon-slaying battle beyond minor assistance. Even so, they were caught in its aftermath and suffered damage to their foundations. As a result, although they later advanced to Spirit Refining, they lived only another nine hundred-odd years before dying natural deaths.
By the time Xuanming gathered his thoughts, he had ridden Deer to Light-Bearing Mountain. The foremost spiritual mountain in Fengyang Commandery stood three thousand zhang tall, towering and majestic, grand and magnificent. A waterfall plunged from its summit like the Milky Way roaring down from the heavens. A rainbow bridge hung high above it, spanning both sides of the falls, with one end connected to the mountain's mortal precincts and the other to its Daoist palaces.
At the foot of the mountain, True Persons of the Rising Sun Sect had already assembled with their disciples to welcome the guests. Invited True Persons arrived in an endless stream, each in their own fashion: riding cranes, soaring on clouds, traveling in streaks of light, or deploying Dharma Artifacts.
