Upbringing and Sect Leadership

Yun Shan raised Yun Yun from childhood. She spent almost all her life within the Jia Ma Empire before traveling to the Black-Corner Region with Liu Yu 27. As the Misty Cloud Sect’s current master, she is a renowned Dou Emperor whose position makes even an audience with her difficult to obtain 8.

She teaches Nalan Yanran and initially approves her decision to end her engagement to Xiao Yan. Yun Yun later acknowledges that the public manner of the cancellation was mishandled, while maintaining that Yanran should retain the choice of whether to marry him 18.

Tagor Desert Expedition and Recovery

Gu He invites Yun Yun to join an expedition seeking a Heavenly Flame in Snake-People territory. When the expedition is repelled, she covers the group’s retreat and is struck by the Snake Seal Curse 10 11. Liu Yu subsequently finds her gravely wounded in the Tagor Desert and rescues her from poisonous Yellow Sand Scorpions 7.

At a secluded oasis, Liu Yu cleans and dresses her wounds. Their initial embarrassment and arguments give way to trust, and she begins developing feelings for him 8. He supplies a list of ingredients for the Breaking-Affliction Pill, having already obtained the necessary Sand Mandala, and explains that its refinement requires a Heavenly Flame 10.

Yun Yun insists on accompanying him out of the desert. Their journey to Jia Ma Holy City lasts three months, including detours to buy clothing and jewelry. Before returning to her sect duties, she tells Liu Yu that the journey made her happy and kisses him 11.

Reconciliation with the Xiao Clan

Yun Yun supports a visit to the Xiao Clan after hearing how Yanran’s public rejection harmed Xiao Yan and his family. She encourages her disciple to attend but explicitly leaves the eventual marriage decision to her 18.

Yun Yun travels with Liu Yu to the Black-Corner Region, her first visit there. During their crossing of the Black Domain Great Plains, he teaches her to use his laser gun against Black Bandits attacking a caravan 27. At Black Seal City, their Dou Emperor auras secure privileged entry and auction-house treatment 28.

After Liu Yu establishes Feather Pavilion, Yun Yun becomes its deputy pavilion master and manages its affairs in his absence. She reports on its five Dou Emperor elders and Dou Wang stewards, and delivers a recovered map pointing toward a possible Heavenly Flame site in the Skyfall Demon Forest 31.

She helps guard Liu Yu during his Dou Zong breakthrough, then joins the Pavilion elders in a surprise assault on Han Feng’s forces at his command 41 42. Following the fighting, she orders the Pavilion’s branches to seize Maple City and the territories of the Black Emperor Sect and Demon Flame Valley, rather than punish Tie Wu for the events he reports 46.
