Bi Xingjian nodded, pushed open the gate, and entered the little Courtyard.
The noise drew Butterfly-Bearing's attention. The cat raised its head, glanced at the two of them, then lay back down and opened its mouth in a huge yawn, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth.
"Meow~"
After recovering its intelligence, it seemed to have grown even lazier. Seeing Bi Xingjian approach, it merely gave a soft meow before settling down to doze.
Jiang Yang came over and stroked the tabby's back. Its sleek, glossy fur felt wonderful beneath his hand. Then he prepared to take his leave.
But before he could speak, a woman's voice rang out from far away, calling sharply:

The moment he heard those words, Bi Xingjian froze. He turned his head and looked this way and that, as though searching for something.

Bi Xingjian paid no heed. Her words only made him more frantic. He turned, scooped up Butterfly-Bearing, and charged out through the Courtyard gate.
But in the next instant, a streak of golden light descended from the sky and slammed into the ground with a crash. A figure appeared amid the golden radiance.
Looking at the crater in the ground, Bi Xingjian silently clicked his tongue and could not help complaining:
