Background / History
Qian Daoliu served as Spirit Hall’s Pope two generations before Bibi Dong and subsequently became its Great Enshrined. As the Angel God’s High Priest, he underwent divine trials whose rewards strengthened his soul power and soul rings. He later contrasts the hardships of those trials with the effortless rewards granted by the Sky Ranking List 12 38.
Before the rankings appeared, he fought Sword Douluo’s father, a level-98 expert who eventually died from his grievous injuries. He also battled Tang Chen in a prolonged duel, meeting Tang Chen’s all-ring detonation head-on and suffering a near-fatal defeat 2 39 41.
His priestly duties include sacrificing his life to open the Angel God’s Ninth Trial for Qian Renxue. He accepts that future obligation but fears leaving his granddaughter without dependable family 40.
Appearance
- Golden clothing: The ranking footage identifies him as the gold-clad combatant opposite Tang Chen 41.
- Six snow-white wings: Visible in the aftermath of his historical duel, where they are badly shattered by Tang Chen’s attack 41.
Personality
Qian Daoliu’s devotion to the Angel God shapes his pride in the Qian family’s martial soul. He initially regards the Six-Winged Angel as unsurpassable, making its second-place ranking a profound blow to his faith 29.
He warmly encourages his fellow enshrined elders, yet privately envies the ease with which their ranking rewards grant power comparable to—or greater than—what he earned through divine trials 3 6 9 12 13.
His political decisions favor Spirit Hall’s survival over personal supremacy. He refuses to launch a potentially ruinous struggle against Bibi Dong and later deliberately holds back against her to avoid mutual injury and a split within the organization 15 23.
In combat, he can be stubbornly direct: he chooses to withstand Tang Chen’s strongest attack rather than evade it. Although proud of his public image, he is especially embarrassed by the possibility that Qian Renxue has seen footage of his defeat 39 41.
Abilities & Skills
Six-Winged Angel
His martial soul is a divine-grade assault martial soul inherited from the Angel God 30 38.
- Naturally possesses the Angel Domain and ultimate light and sacred attributes, described as the bane of evil 30.
- Its evaluation lists level-twenty innate soul power as a natural trait of the martial soul 30.
- Places second on the Martial Soul Ranking; Qian Renxue, rather than Qian Daoliu, receives its reward 29 30.
Angel Divine Power
As the Angel God’s High Priest, Qian Daoliu can wield a small amount of angel divine power, giving him demigod-tier strength despite his level-99 cultivation 38.
- His prolonged battle with Tang Chen produces deep craters and violent tremors across the battlefield 39.
- His clash with Tang Chen’s ultimate technique destroys a mountain peak 39.
- His combat-power score is 100, below Tang Chen’s 105 38 40.
- After watching the Snow Empress fight Di Tian, he openly admits he is no match for either combatant 42.
Ninth Soul Skill: Angel’s Breath
Angel’s Breath activates through his red hundred-thousand-year ninth soul ring and manifests an enormous golden angel phantom 39.
- Used to intercept Tang Chen’s Great Sumeru Hammer, amplified by the detonation of all nine soul rings 39.
- Fails to withstand the attack: the completed footage shows Qian Daoliu bloodied and unable to move, while Tang Chen remains standing 41.
Flight
- Could have flown away to avoid the strongest phase of Tang Chen’s final attack, but chose to meet it directly 39.
Items & Rewards
- One chance at resurrection — Granted for tenth place on the Powerhouse Ranking. The reward enters his body as golden light without an immediately detectable change. He treasures it because it offers a way to return after the sacrifice required for Qian Renxue’s Ninth Trial 40.
Relationships
- Qian Renxue — His granddaughter and foremost personal concern. He regrets her cultivation losses during the Heaven Dou infiltration and is moved to tears when his resurrection reward offers hope that he will not leave her alone 30 40.
- Angel God — The deity he serves as High Priest. His divine trials, faith, and future sacrificial duties are central to his life 12 29 38 40.
- Golden Crocodile Douluo — Second Enshrined and a longstanding companion. Qian Daoliu congratulates his level-99 breakthrough; Golden Crocodile later teases him about his defeat and uses his combat score as a unit of comparison 26 41 46.
- The other enshrined elders — Six old companions whom he leads and encourages. They have known him for over a century and coordinate their defense immediately at his command 3 17.
- Bibi Dong — Successor and internal rival whose growing power ends his ability to restrain her. He nevertheless prioritizes Spirit Hall’s cohesion over a destructive confrontation 15 18 23.
- Tang Chen — Historical opponent who defeated him with all-ring detonation. Tang Chen calls him an “honest man” for taking the attack head-on 39 40 41.
- Sword Douluo’s father — A level-98 opponent who died from injuries sustained after fighting him 2.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Martial Soul Ranking
- Initial assessment: Unable to understand the golden scroll, Qian Daoliu remains cautious about its origin while encouraging the elders’ ranking prospects. He reminds them that Sea God Island also possesses a divine martial soul 3.
- Unknown ranged attacker: Orders an investigation after learning that someone surpasses Light Feather Douluo. He initially plans for all seven enshrined to pursue the expert once a reward reveals the person’s location 11 12.
- Bibi Dong’s rise: Declines Golden Crocodile’s demand to subdue her after she reaches level 99, judging that they cannot win quickly enough to prevent her next reward 15.
- Submission with restraint: Bibi Dong defeats the seven enshrined and asserts supreme authority. Later passages reveal that Qian Daoliu deliberately withheld his full strength and pretended to remain gravely injured to preserve Spirit Hall’s unity 18 23 26.
- Recruitment plan: Sends a messenger asking Bibi Dong to recruit the unknown ranged attacker because the injured elders—and his own feigned condition—prevent them from going 26.
- Silver Superman revelation: The Six-Winged Angel’s second-place result shakes his faith. Silver Superman’s subsequent evaluation horrifies him and makes him regret considering control over its owner 29 32.
- Continued underestimation: Briefly considers that eighteen-year-old Long Aotian might surpass Golden Crocodile, then accepts the argument that his youth makes this unlikely 35.
Powerhouse Ranking
- Tenth-place reveal: His placement exposes the gap between Spirit Hall’s expectations and the continent’s hidden strength. The list publicly identifies his priesthood, divine power, soul rings, and combat score 38.
- Historical defeat exposed: His initial footage stops at the collision with Tang Chen, temporarily preserving his reputation. Tang Chen’s entry subsequently shows the aftermath and confirms Qian Daoliu’s defeat 39 41.
- Resurrection reward: Receives a reward suited to his anticipated sacrifice rather than a cultivation increase, giving him hope of remaining with Qian Renxue afterward 40.
- Greater threats recognized: Admits inferiority to the Snow Empress and Di Tian, then reacts with horror when the ranking reveals that quasi-god Bibi Dong has been killed 42 47.
