Ch. 923A Head Marked for Sale, Fists Like Great Suns, the Demon Ape Goes All Out Against a God King!
Plot points and events
- In Soundless Valley, Ye Tian confronts the Six-Eared Six-Eyed Demon Ape, a powerful God Venerable and primordial variant who intends to eat him. Ye Tian mocks the ape and declares he will make it his mount.
- Ye Tian opens with the Six Paths of Reincarnation Fist, while the Demon Ape counters with six origin laws fired through its eyes. Their attacks devastate the valley, but the Demon Ape is driven back farther and injured; Ye Tian is only slightly shaken.
- The fight turns into brutal close combat. Ye Tian’s punches damage the ape’s iron-hard hide, while the ape’s claws and tail threaten him. Ye Tian breaks the ape’s shoulder with the Primordial Dragon Elephant Art and blocks its tail with the Qi of All Things’ Mother Cauldron.
- The Demon Ape attacks Ye Tian’s soul with an inaudible sound wave, then sends a law-forged sword toward his heart. Ye Tian recovers by suppressing the sound with his Chaos Primordial Spirit and swallows the sword with his Chaos Furnace.
- Ye Tian lands a decisive blow on the ape’s head, cracks its skull, and pins it down, demanding its submission.
- Rather than yield, the Demon Ape burns its life origin to heal and greatly amplify its power. Ye Tian welcomes the escalation, summons his god-devil dharma form and chaos war spear, and charges into the next round. The chapter ends as both prepare to collide again.
Character developments
- Ye Tian is shown as supremely confident, physically resilient, and versatile: he combines powerful martial techniques, defensive artifacts, soul protection, and the ability to absorb a law-based attack. The Demon Ape’s revival excites rather than frightens him.
- The Demon Ape shifts from contemptuous confidence to shock and fury when Ye Tian withstands its strongest attacks. After being pinned and injured, it refuses to submit and chooses to burn its life force, making the fight a desperate last stand.
- Huang Ruoxi and the other spectators are briefly shown in alarm when Ye Tian appears vulnerable, underscoring the danger of the duel.
Significant themes
- Strength tested through escalation: Each fighter answers the other’s power with a more dangerous technique, turning the duel into a contest of endurance and resolve.
- Pride and defiance: Neither combatant is willing to back down; the Demon Ape’s status as a God Venerable makes its humiliation especially intolerable.
- Power beyond appearances and rank: Though Ye Tian is a God King facing a God Venerable, his toughness and varied abilities let him overpower the higher-ranked opponent.
- Risk and self-sacrifice: The Demon Ape’s choice to burn its origin raises the stakes, exchanging long-term vitality for immediate power.
Character interactions
- Ye Tian repeatedly taunts the Demon Ape, treating it as a beast to be subdued and a potential mount; the ape responds with rage and increasingly lethal attacks.
- Their exchanges are both physical and tactical: Ye Tian counters the ape’s laws, soul attack, and tail strike, while the ape exploits a brief opening to strike at Ye Tian’s heart.
- Huang Ruoxi and the others watch from the black coffin, reacting with fear as the duel reaches its most dangerous moments.
